Here is an interesting irony. Rockaway Township should have avoided all of the problems now facing it pertaining to the Circus by using its power to institute Eminent Domain over 140 GPR.
Because they did not do that, great demands are going to be placed on the township and county. These demands will include the necessity to widen GPR. Since wetlands lie to the roads east side, the widening will have to occur to its west.
That will require Morris County and Rockaway Township to condemn (take by Eminent Domain) quite a lot of property for the widening project. This land is going to be taken from good taxpaying Rockaway Township citizens.
Ironic, isn't it!
To add to that irony, some of those wetlands to the east of GPR that will not be able to be built upon to widen the roadway are owned by Clown's Circus.
p.s. A rumor that I heard from our stock broker is that Morris County has already agreed in principle to widen GPR to 4 lanes up to Meriden Rd to facilitate the Circus traffic. Anyone else heard that?
