Too bad they edited the letter. I pointed out in the original letter that every other area paper was present at the meeting. Talk about self serving editing! Also What the heck does the headline mean? It should have read DAILY RECORD MIA Lisa
Doing the best for Rockaway Township
To the Editor:
The Daily Record has spent the last three years writing sensational headlines about the Christ Church application in Rockaway Township. Earlier this month, it ran the most inaccurate headline yet, "Hecklers abound." We were in the room; there were no hecklers. Applause, yes, hecklers, no.
On July 10, the planning board heard from nearly 20 residents who one after the other asked the board to deny the application. There were wonderful, factual statements issued from residents who have lived here for many years and who care about their home. There were speakers from various environmental organizations around the state begging the town to care for the water and deny the application.
But wait, where is the headline in the Daily Record that read, "Residents speak out: Please deny this application." It did not appear because the Daily Record did not attend the meeting or attempt to interview anyone who did. Now that speaks volumes for the lack of concern that the Daily Record shows for its community. Residents know that this applicant's plan is simply too large for the land and community.
Who gets the Jeer this week? The Daily Record does.

The Christ Church Plan for the redevelopment of 140 Green Pond Rd is just too big for the area.
There was NO article...it was as if, in the eyes of the DR, that the meeting never happened. Some say no news is good news - However some people have only been following this in the papers and now are left with the impression that nothing happened and do not know that the room was filled to the max yet again and not one person stood and spoke in favor of this application.

It's sad that the DR seems to have taken a very biased direction in their reporting of the CC affair. They play up the racial and religious aspects and pretty much ignore the impacts related to environment, traffic, and general size of the project. I guess it's their newspaper and they have a right to print what they choose but it really makes them look rather corrupt to anyone that has been following the story through other sources. Hopefully people with the power to decide the issue will get the full story and won't be influenced too greatly by the reporting of this less than honest newpaper.
mr snowflake and mr jennings should be fired and shunned by all honest Americans. How pathetic these two have made the Record look. Stick to the Star Ledger for any news concerning this mega-flop of a building plan.
We did not even know that there was no article! Interesting. We cancelled our subscription to the DR a few years ago when we realized the intense bias expressed by this "High School" Newspaper.
We would be surprised that more folks in RT have not done that too.
I've often wondered why the DR would support a group that does not get their paper or support their advertisers. In light of all the other communities in Morris County who are fighting mega developments in their towns, the DR's position only alienates these town's residents also. Are they trying to go out of business? Or are they just that stupid? In yesterday's paper there were 2 small items. One about the next meeting on Sept. 11 and one about cc's picnic in Jefferson. It stated that the picnic was a private affair. So why put it in the paper?? Makes you wonder what's up with the DR. I know their subscription base is hurting. They had people soliciting at Shop Rite up and down the aisles for subscriptions. No loss when they go out of business. Star Ledger does a fine job of covering Morris County. Like people say, the DR reads the Star Ledger to find out what's going on in Morris County.
