My wife and I have chatted about this cc situation in our (RT) town for months now. Both of our familes (Southern Italian - her side - and German Jewish - my side -) have enjoyed our (their) relationship with the Northern New Jersey area and we have all prospered greately. We all came from imagrants who settled in Newark, NJ. My family came from the Wequack Section and my wifes family came from the Ironbound section.
The town of Newark was beautiful when they came to this country. We have many a beautiful photos of the "Good Olde Days." They lived, they grew, they studied and then they worked and then they all prospered nicely in a middle class sort of way. And then something happened. They all had to move out. Had they not, where would they be now?????????? They would be in a town called NEWARK.
Marla and I have decided that there is no more time for persuasion in RT on this cc issue. Ireland absolutely has the upper hand legally here, in our and our lawyers estimation. We have lived here for 16 years now and have enjoyed it immensely, all but the last year.
We purchased this property, custom built by Jack Ketcherick and his Father of Mountain Lakes fame. (this is the house that Jack Built, lol). Jacks dad built much of Mountain Lakes. They built this place that we are living in on spec. It is a custom home on 3 + acres with all lots being 2 to 3 acre zoning (not that it matters if ya are church).
This property is a Mini - Estate in that it is on 3+ acres in one of the most beautiful areas of RT. We are only 1000 feet from Boonton township. This property features two streams, 13 acres of adjacent property which is not developable (unless ya are a church). It has two ponds and a stream. It is heavily wooded. It is 3600 ft^2 on the main floors. It has about 700 ft^2 additionally improved in the basement beautifully done. It has four beds, library, huge country kitchen, real masonary fire place, huge deck, all wood trim and doors and lots of wooden beams and crown moudings. In short, this is a beautiful MINI ESTATE! It must be seen to appreciate.
Reverend Ireland should consider this property since it is fitting of his lifestyle and is convenient to his future kingdom.
We paid $517,000.00 for this property brand new 16 years ago. We have made many improvements on it costing us probably another one or two hundred grand.
We (Marla and I) have decided tonight that we are "out of here." We do not want to deal with this cc situation anymore - - - too much stress on us. We are retired folks. Fortunately, we have looked at our fincances carefully and we can absorb the loss. This property was evaluated at 950 K about a year ago before cc came into the pic.
We will sell it for anything above what we paid for it, which is 517K. That is an unbeliveble price if you look at this place and compare it to other homesteads in the Morris County area.

Ask for Craig or Marla.
ps. I, Craig, will not post anymore on this venue. Best of luck to all of our good friends in this beautiful township. I know, I sound like " Bystander" - - - I am taking my ball and I going home. Yeah, that is true, but we gotta protect our lifes assets. We own this place and we worked hard to get there. Our families were chased out of Newark and Irvington (my family owned Hoffman Beverage, fyi). We can not afford the risk that this town is subject to.
(( ... I, Craig, will not post anymore on this venue ... I know, I sound like " Bystander" - - - I am taking my ball and I home... ))
Whoa ... something major's going on behind the scenes somewhere, methinks... this message comes too soon after T.D.'s posting for my suspicious brain.
Mr. C. ... serious suggestion: NEVER SAY NEVER [about not posting on this venue anymore]... you don't want those words to come back to haunt you. Trust me of all people !! You know I'm speaking from experience!! At the same time, I cross-my-heart-and-hope-to-die promise that I will NEVER EVER call you on it if you do decide to return and post again in the future ... even thought you have to know I'd be mighty tempted, to, eh !!!
All kidding aside ... good luck with everything, Mr. and Mrs. C.
I don't Know Mr. Maier, are you perhaps being a little hasty? Never mind the legal issues this is far from over. And falling on your sword doesn't seem your style.
Nothing in this life is set in stone.
with that said, a
little qoute,
Liberty is the possibility of doubting, the possibility of making a mistake, the possibility of searching and experimenting, the possibility of saying No to any authority--literary, artistic, philosophic, religious, social and even political. Ignazio Silone, The God That Failed (1950)
That catchy song is stuck in my head...you know the one "Ding Dong the witch is dead" but I'm sure it isn't true. Salsberg, Jenkins and Maier will be back.
They're laying low, allowing the directors of their efforts time to plan one final, last ditch effort. But since the voRTie's goal is wrongfull and filled with hate, I'm confident they will fail.
Ted, you're just plain nuts, and if anyone is filled with hate......well, check the mirror.( talk about people looking for their 15 minutes!)
Craig, as I have stated before ( a few times), I agree that the CC project is too big for where they wish to put it, and I oppose it on those grounds. We are in agreement on that. We seem to disagree greatly on the justification for our positions. However, I also firmly believe that you are incorrect at worst, and overstating at best, the financial impact it would have on property values, in particular where you are ,a couple of miles from the site. And I think that your assumptions and/or calcualtions are based more on the demographic of CC than the impact the project would have logistically. This is why you and I have been jousting. But if you wish to have a fire sale, that's your choice.
