I never said that the zoning laws in Rockaway Twp. limits the number of members that a church (any church) can have. Please do not put words into my mouth.
Yet, here is a question for you. Why can't Dr. Ireland build a smaller more realistic church (not campus) and have several worship times? I'm sure that if Dr. Ireland proposed a church that did not effect residents' traffic and/or environment, he would see very little opposition from the good residents of Rockaway Twp. Again this issue at hand has NOTHING to do with race or religion, at least for MOST residents. I also can not help but wonder if Dr. Ireland wants to move his church out here, why hasn't he made any attempt to get to know the residents? Maybe if he took the time to talk to them and get to know them and TRY to understand how they feel, he could better relate and be more aware of the concerns. You know "you can catch more flies with honey, than with vinegar" thing. Just a thought.

Perhaps he can't afford the police escort he feels he needs when he is in Rockaway Township???? Our officers, I'm sure wouldn't mind the overtime - hanging out during 'chats' with local residents. It's much better than the overtime HE proposes for them - standing on Green Pond Road and trying to direct the massive traffic.
I am sure that Rockaway Police Officers would not mind the overtime. Most people would not mind the opportunity to make a little extra cash. :)
That being said...Could he not stay a little later at the planning board meetings? Or even come a little early? Police Officers are already there anyway. Yet, I do have to wonder, why would Dr. Ireland be afraid of residents? If he truly is, (do not know), then why can't he ask residents to come up to his church in Montclair and meet with them there? I'm not saying that everyone or anyone would take him up on that offer, but at least it would show that he made the attempt to want to be apart of our community.

Truth is, RT residents have been invited to CC. On this board and the other one. To date, none have indicated acceptance (some may have gone to a service not said anything). You state your opinion that the project is too big for RT - well supporters just happen to look at the same facts and come to a different conclusion. You have certainly found the bbd that will support your view though. A recap of the opposing viewpoint - traffic study says the impact is reasonable, environmental laws will be complied with, along with all parking and bulding size issues. So no problems. Add to that the concept that GPR is going to expand (already scheduled building and traffic requires it), and the cute fact that Craig's house of worship has a heavier person per acre impact than proposed by CC, and you can see why many people think vort's complaining (about Impact Scope Burden Size) I.S. B.S.
So the suggestion would be to go to CC and talk to some folks and see if you do not find quite a different atmosphere and outlook than you get here.
Nice try Russ! How much did Ireland promise you this time? I bet Craig's house of worship doesn't have a gym. Is that why you support CC? Cause you think that you will be able to get a job. Are you going to try your disability stunt again? Yet, I think that Ireland might even be smart enough to catch you on that one. One of his members might see you jogging down the road. Remember they are just visitors, not neighbors. You can't go knocking on their door to ask them to lie for you. Just how Christain would that be?
Ok. I was not aware that residents were ever invited to have a sit down with Dr. Ireland. I stand corrected. I would have went. I would have wanted to speak to Dr. Ireland and hear what he had to say and have him answer my questions about his plans. Did anyone go to this meeting with Dr. Ireland? If so, could you please be kind enough to tell me what was discussed? You may be able to answer some questions that I had. Thanks.

No it doesn't but I understand they made some "noise" about building a school a few years back. I don't know what happened. If true, I'd be interested to know Maier's opinion on the matter.
What does Craig's house of worship have to do with the application at hand? Are you purposly trying to start trouble? I thought the topic of this thread was "getting back to business". If you want to talk about Craig's house of worship, please start a new topic. I'm sure that you and him could have a very heated and moronic debate about it. Thank you.
