Ya know, Craig. I am an outspoken supporter of VORT, and completely against the scope of this project. Thanks to you, any person I speak to now has to bring up "that a$$hole Craig"! Thanks to you, Christians across Rockaway think this is a religious issue now. I know this topic has been hashed out several times, but I just wanted to say one more time "Thanks for nothing! You set the whole process back by countless months!" We had the high ground, but thanks to YOU we lost it.
How could you be so stupid. You seem like a smart guy. Didn't you stop to think of the consequences? Didn't you stop and think this has absolutley nothing to do with the land issues? You made VORT supporters look bad, you made all people opposing this for the right reasons look bad, you made Jews look bad, you made Rockaway look bad!
Regardless of whether you agree with his perspective or not, he has the right to say what he wants.
And...there's no such thing as truly "bad" publicity.
If it were to make the "town look bad", which I find hard to believe, what does that accomplish?
Does it make the church's project smaller?
Will the court decide to "punish the town" for Craig's statement?
I'd be willing to bet there are a lot of people now who are aware of this project because of the publicity Craig's statement got--I, you, or they may or may not agree with what he said--but they're aware of the project now.
Which is not a bad thing, in my opinion.
Do I think the statement deserved to be front page news? Hardly. I still find it hard to believe the Record found it THAT newsworthy.

One thing I will say to you Craig - as much as you might not agree. You are one of a handful who signs your COMPLETE name. If you end up in an argument with Matthew or another, and each of you says things that can be used out of context, your statements will be attributed to you and Matthew's statements will be attributed to 'some anonymous person who could even be a VORT supporter in disguise". Think about that fact when you post with your FULL name, and as much as it is against who you are, you might want to think about using a name like mine - There are definitely multiple "Jay R"s in Rockaway Township. A few here know who I am - they've figured it out. Even tED thinks he knows me. The reality is, my friends here know me, and to others, I'm just an anonymous person who uses the same name for every post.

Is "Schmuck Alert" a shill for CC? Not likely. If Craig Maier learned to keep his mouth shut then RT would look a LOT more civil.
One might argue that Maier was actually hired by CC to help give RT a bad image.

Actually, the problem is that Craig, as far back as I can see as I peruse the old messages, has been an arrogant, obnoxious, pompous wind-bag. So now people no longer want to deal with it nicely. I am sure that most will calm down soon and wish they had not gone after him so hard, but it is impossible to expect people not to attack a guy as arrogantly ignorant as Craig. I am sure he'll get over it too, and maybe learn a lesson or two from the whole experience.
Yes I have learned a lot - a lot about fundamentalist Christianity and Ireland that I did not know before. It was part of my life experience. Thanks everyone for being a part of it. Never a day goes by when we do not learn something new.
