Once again, Christ Church has managed to infuriate the residents of Rockaway Township with the help of its high-priced public relations firm. Spokesman Mark Weinstein's quote, "This is not what we were going for," says it all.
Once again Christ Church tried to sway public opinion and gain sympathy for its cause by deliberately and inaccurately intimating that residents had threatened its minister. I am an avid opponent of the Christ Church mega-complex, a supporter of Voices of Rockaway Township, and I am active on the Internet message boards. Never have I seen or heard anything that could even remotely be construed as a threat to anyone's safety associated with Christ Church.
Pastor David Ireland and his "church" are not wanted in Rockaway Township by the majority of its residents. We do not want a mega-corporation congesting our roads, destroying our environment and depleting our tax base. We do not want the church for a neighbor. It has nothing to do with the color of anyone's skin or the brand of religion. It has all to do with the size of the business, and the total lack of character the church embodies,

"You have insulted our elected officials, called for our Mayor to step down for doing what he feels is best, called for our Environmental official to recuse himself for releasing public documents to the public, insulted our Fire Dept., called our residents Racists and anti-religious, sued our town in Federal Court for no reason, and had your friends at the Beckett Fund push the DOJ into launching a Federal Investigation of our town. Now you insult our Police Dept, by bringing in armed guards to a public meeting in the same building as our Police Dept. and making baseless claims of safety concerns as another PR stunt. No Christ Church, We don’t want you for a neighbor and it should be no mystery as to why. "
Also, looks like they changed "Mr" Ireland to "Pastor" Ireland. We all know why we dont refer to him as Paster of Dr.............. but Mr. or CEO Ireland.
Yep its a shame they edited out the list of reasons, but I guess it still got the point across. I got comments from several people in other towns about it today. There will probably be a Turd Dooty letter refuting everything I said in a couple days. Too bad no one cares what he has to say.
