Just what would possess the good folk at Christ Church to hire an armed guard to watch over their pastor, David Ireland?
Talk about an image that is so contrary to the message of Christianity, a faith built on trust and good will.
Yes, the approval process has been nasty at times, but there is no suggestion Ireland is a target. And let's not forget township police are at every planning board meeting. If Ireland wanted to be escorted to his vehicle, it's likely police would do so.
Bringing an armed guard to a public meeting, which is what happened this week, does not show a very pleasant face to the community Christ Church says it wants to become part of.

There have been unfortunate Internet postings, a thinly veiled attempt to stop the church via legislation and hate filled fundraisers & picnics held by the citizen group that opposes the church. Not to mention letters to the editor and VERY inaccurate articles that disparage church supporters.
Wake up Fred!!!! Be honest, are you sure that VORT's supporters are incapable of violence? Wake up

It wouldn't be the first time.
This crap sends a real nice message at Christmas.

Sooner or later they'll turn into a left hook. I think they should protect themselves.
Another blog big post this afternoon. Bet this one has got to sting.

It's a shame that Ted Doty has to use conflict in order to make himself feel important.
It's a shame that he has to take out his political frustrations by smearing his own version of blind justice on the residents of Rockaway Township and Borough.
It's a shame that those of us who may have campained and voted for him in the past when he was running for office are now regretting that decision years down the road.
It is a shame that he just cannot grasp that his hatred for anyone who does not agree with him 100% has driven away some of his friends, family, and supporters.
It is just a shame that he will view this posting as an attack and not as a call for him to get the psychological help for his very manic episodes from people who have cared for him not only in the past, but in the present.
