We all know how tenacious and insistent Matt is on this forum. He likes to debate religious issues (especially if Rob Jennings is watching), andn loves it when it becomes confrontation.
Thankfully, on this forum, we’re able to ignore him—we can simply refuse to read his posts, we can walk away from the computer, or we can reply to his posts, as we choose.
There are 5,000 members of this church, just like Matt. If Christ Church comes here, they’ll be here in Rockaway, in one quantity or another, just about every day.
As Matt says, one of the things God commands them to do, in order to get to heaven, is save every soul they possibly can. And getting into heaven is Job One for these guys.
Where better than to start right here in Rockaway? Got a good heathen base to work with.
How will YOU handle it when they’re standing on your doorstep, just as tenacious, just as insistent, ringing your doorbell?
“Hi, I’m Matt. Where will your soul go when you die?”
That’s when it really gets personal for me. I dislike being confronted about my religious choices and behaviors, without the option of shutting off the computer and walking away.
I’ve said it before…”Hello Jehovah’s Witnesses!”
We’re seeing it online, we’ll see it at our front door too.
And incidentally, no, the project hasn’t gotten any smaller!
Well, Karen, as you know that is exactly my fear with one exception. I calculate 25,000 of 'em not 5,000 in the next few years. I know, I know - - - I have no right to have any fears like that. I apologize in advance, to all of the thought police out there.

Quite an assumption there, Karen. All of CC like me? Hardly. Talk about religious prejudice!

Is there a way to tell when Rob Jennings is watching? Boy, you Board Admins have a LOT of power!

"5,000 members"... "Just like Matt" ! Hilarious deduction Karen!

I said that Karen? I'll be waiting for you to repost the exact statement I made that said anything close to that.

Although I don't necessarily agree, I won't argue with you on this.

CC uses door-to-door evangelism? Really? I'm sure if that's true you could get easy evidence of it over at the Montclair forum.

Karen, like many others here, you have made many statements as if they are fact. Yet you have no evidence to substantiate them.
Now, by attacking what you believe are CC religious views, you have willingly landed yourself in the same pot as Mr. Maier.
Perhaps Mr. Jennings would do well to give you a call so he could report that he's found another one that opposes CC because of their religious views.
Are there substantial numbers of RT residents who feel this way as well?
And could it be that Mrs. Salberg's reluctance to distance herself from Mr. Maier's comments is because she agrees with them?

Three things: First, yes they are all good Christians. Second, I believe Matt indicates taht he does not attend CC. Third, CC in fact does not use door-to-door evangelism, no matter how much Craig might need it
Admittedly, I fell for the bait again. It really is fortunate I'm not a drinker or a smoker, I have no willpower!
Thing One: Matthew, so you're basically saying you're one of the lunatic fringe like craig and me?
Thing Two: I hope it is true that there is one and only one "Matthew". Hopefully you don't have any obnoxious spawn riding the same bus as my kids.
Thing Three: Without a search engine it shall take some time to find the remainder of your "God commands us to spread the word to everyone" statements. Here's part of one.
(Remember? It was a few days ago when you were telling us that our 14 local churches aren't active, and aren't getting anyone into heaven).
From your post:
Author: worthwhile? Date: 10 days
I did imply that "active" Christian churches would be doing what Christ commanded them to do. I would put "giving hope to the hopeless, mending broken lives, rescuing those in the grips of addiction" in the category of Christ's Great commision, wouldn't you? I could post some Bible verses here that spell out Jesus' own words on this, but I'm sure you already learned them at your small church, so I won't bother.
the question is, how many churches in RT are following Christs commands?
As wretched as some of our miserable lives may be to the Evangalist Fundamentalists, some of us (myself included) want it to remain just the way that it is. I do not want to be "saved" or any of that other stuff. I just want to live my life in peace and harmony without anyone telling me that I am going to go to hell when it is all done. I do not believe in Hell, so it is not relevent to me. I will just leave it for G-d to decide where I am to go at the end of my life. I am afraid that these cc folks are not going to give us the peace and tranquility that we used to have in this town. I am just trying to decide whether we should move now or wait.
this has all gotten SOOOOOOO old...can't stand the preaching anymore!!!!
religion is a personal choice!!!!!!! i don't care about what other people do as long as they don't tread on my beliefs...
THIS IS NOT A RELIGIOUS ISSUE!!!! although...i don't want to support cc with my taxes...and i don't want their junk mail (from living near them in montclair i know for a FACT that they do mailings...and they ask for donations - from NON members)...and some discussions raised have demonstrated that race and religion are being used against RT...(RLUIPA and that we are racists and anti-christian...all FALSE) leave it out of the mix...as it does not belong...a town with the diverse places to worship CANNOT be labelled anti-christian and race just has NOTHING to do with the situation!!!!
IT IS ABOUT SCOPE and IMPACT!!!
all these cc supporters come out on the board...where are they at the meetings??? where is his flock at the meetings??? if they cared/wanted cc to move to rockaway...wouldn't they be there???
we have our REAL reasons...and we back up our reasons and we demonstrate our concern...we LOVE our town...
but b/c of this we are shown in a neg. light...if the cc members loved their church so much...they'd be supporting it with all their might...but they aren't!!! all they come up with is spin - they can't really support it...all they can do is trash the town's residents...so even that extent...if we are sooooo horrible...why would you want to come here???

Karen, I must apologize for a misinterpretation. I was not calling you a "hag," HAG are my initials, which I will use for all postings - I messed up the caps lock apparantly. So, please accept my apology if you were offended.
On another topic, Maria, where are CC supporters? At home, at work, at CC or wherever else they might be. I've been to a meeting, one was more than enough. They are not a popularity contest, the application will pass no matter the numbers present.
Matt said: "Karen, like many others here, you have made many statements as if they are fact. Yet you have no evidence to substantiate them."
Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black...when it comes to the constant barrage of Jesus saves from this guy.
Matthew, all you have done is spewed your opinion and your bible as if it where "FACT", and now you have the nerve to tell someone (who believes something like you believe something) to gather evidence....
Matthew...where did you gather your evidence???? From a book and a minister???
I'd like you show us your proof that only the saved get to heaven....then Karen will submit to you her proof.
By the way...If passages from your Bible count as evidence, then equally, I'll ask Rev Craig to write some passages for Karen, in poetic verse just like your Bible has, stating exactly what she needs for her evidence.
Oooooopps, I forgot for a minute....I'm talking to a shilltroll...
The application your leader has before our planning board will NEVER see the light of day, there are so many holes in it, it reminds me of swiss cheese!! Please do us all a favour, and ask your magnanimous leader to find an appropriate site to build this (CC) Country Club...

Mark,
Karen statements are on an earthly level: ie. CC uses door-to-door evangelism.
This is a statement that can easily be proven true or false.
Karen has no proof of it.
My statements regarding Heaven are by no means provable in this way. Although thinking adults can investigate the claims and evidence surrounding any religion and come to conclusions. Anybody who enters into a debate about religion feels that there must be a "right" answer, not that "we all must be right!". Otherwise, no one would debate in the first place.
Now you have invited me to continue this "Heavenly" debate. I would be more than happy to oblige you in this request. But you may want to check with your forum peers here to see if they're in favor of this.
Imagine - fighting Christ Church's application to purchase 140 Green Pond Road on the lack of merit of the application.
Imagine - Rob Jennings NOT having ammunition to write his hack jobs with.
Imagine - Staying on topic.
Imagine - Let Matt converse with himself about how many Hitler's can fit it heaven.
Imagine - Those of us who oppose Christ Church ignoring the bullshit on this board (turn the other cheek) and concentrating on the FACTS of the application.
The church is STILL too big. The impact is STILL to great. Stay the course - ignore the rest.
Imagine - Mr. Jennings writing about the provocation as well as the comments.
Imagine - We STAY ON TOPIC or allow them to divide us.
Karen - They're testing us. Their strategy is divide and conquer. As Ben Franklin said, "We must all hang together, or assuredly, we shall hang seperately. Old Ben was very wise. Don't let the Matts of the world divide use.
