Well it appears the slim on NJ.com is up to it again. They have now created a screen name "VORT" and are posting all kinds of lies - in the name of a church mind you. Please be advised (as if you did not already know) that the screen name of VORT is in no way linked to Voices of Rockaway Twp or any of its members. FYI no member of Voices of Rockaway Twp posts on that board - even though they are sure it is all us - I bet they think there are monsters under their beds too! (no offence there monster
I do have an update to report to you all - Voices of Rockaway Twp has taken the position that we are firmly opposed to the proposed Quick Check to be located where "Bennies Hot Dog stand" had been. While Quick Check is a fine store this is not the location for the type of business they are seeking to build. The plans call for a retail store, seating for customers (which is a restaurant in my book - but they will not call it one??) and gas pumps. Based on what they are seeking it is not in the best interest of the environment or the traffic flow through that area. They are seeking underground holding tanks for gas that will be less then 300 feet away from a C-1 waterway (Beaver Brook) and within the 5 year migration table of our town well. This means if there is a leak it will get into the water supply. Quick Check has claimed that they are using state of the art systems to ensure the system is safe - we have heard that before in RTWP - at the Shell station on Green Pond - their "state of the art system" failed and contaminated our water not once but twice! The master plan of RTWP states that the Green Pond Corridor is environmentally sensitive and should not be built up.
Further there are many local businesses on Green Pond Rd who have served us well for many years - the mom and pops really need our support - they are our friends and neighbors!
The next planning board meeting is Monday Night - YES TOMORROW!! The traffic expert will be answering questions from the residents. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE GUYS - GO ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU WANT. I will be out of town tomorrow - but my plane lands at 9pm - so I am having the car drop me off at the meeting - baggage in hand! I hope to see you all there - call your friends and remind them too!

Sorry I missed you all last night - my flight was delayed in MN for an hour and I rolled in to RT at 10:40pm. I understand that many people had the chance to ask many questions and more are to come.
