Maria,
Do these beliefs come from some where? The Priests tell them to you and you have believed them without checking them out for yourself?
You don't know if the Bible agrees with what you have just said, yet you accept it simply because a Priest told you it was that way?
I have asked questions because the answers you and others here have given only lead to more questions. They are not complete answers. I am simply engaging in dialogue to find out what you really think.
I will pause my questions for a moment.
Here is what I think: If I attend a church and follow its rules, then I will find out what those rules are based on and examine them to see if they are valid. I will not blindly follow simply because it's what my parents did or it's what everyone around me is doing.
I will not post the Bible verses the support (or dispute) your beliefs. If you care to know if they are really true, then you can look them up. There are many websites that make Bible study extremely easy.
i trust my priests taught as the catholic church and bible say...we did read passages, etc...throughout ccd that demonstrated the beliefs...but like i said...i can't quote or recall them off the top of my head...and i certainly don't have time to poor over the bible looking for them...
i don't take any one person's words as gospel...like i've stated before...i believe if you go thru life as a good person and are sorry when you do "wrong" and hurt others...you will go to heaven...b/c g-d looks at your heart...personally - i don't feel as though i need to go to confession to be forgiven...i can speak to g-d in the silence of my heart...and he knows and he will judge me...
this all leads back to my basic belief that although there are general guidelines and doctrine to follow...religion is personal and g-d judges us as so...
and yes...i believe i will go to heaven...and i will see all my loved ones who went before me...including my cats, dogs, birds, geese and guinea pigs that filled my life with joy...
matthew...this is as far as i am willing to go with sharing my beliefs...actually it is farther than i normally would go with a stranger...
