October 17, 2005 meeting

Well - watching paint dry may have been more interesting then last nights meeting, with a few minor exceptions.

The good news of the evening is that during the next meeting the PUBLIC will be able to address the traffic 'expert'!

The parking and traffic flow was discussed and the widing of Green Pond Rd on the south bound side was a topic of debate as they are seeking to increase the lane size to 16-18 feet so that people could pass those turning left into the CC parking lot. NO thought was give to those living across the street attempting to get in and out of driveways - further the daycare center was completely ignored. Many members of the board have significant concerns about the safety of those antering the roadway from these driveways. I am sorry to say that CC's representitives seemed to have no concern stating 'that is the drivers responsibility' and that law enforcement should monitor problems. Many thought that the 'problem' should not be created in the first place.

It appears that the parking numbers are very tight so that they can park everyone moving in in and out with the assistance of parking attendants. It appears from the numbers given that they weill need all parking - they did not have sufficient answers as to what they were going to do in the event of a large snow fall how many parking spaces they would take up with snow or infact where they plan on putting the snow.

Again, as in the past there was more "we do not know yet" responces to key questions of the applicant. It is such a waste of everyones time to see they are still so unprepared.

Next meeting in November 7 and questions from the public will be taken for the traffic expert.

In other news Voices of Rockaway Twp has requested a hearing with the DEP on this matter - we are hopeful they will hold a public hearing for all to attend and share their thoughts and concerns.

Best wishes,
Lisa

Just widen GPR, right! Anyone been stuck in the traffic on GPR for the paving? Widening the road would be 100 times worse. Yesterday, took me a 1/2 hr to drive the 4 miles to my house on GPR. Any what about the residents across the street? The businesses? cc has no regard for anyone but themselves. We MUST have a say in this madness as residents.
