Great new location?

Lets say a location was found (not in RT) that was VERY LARGE and had close, multi-lane highway access.   This location could easily be modified to accommodate 25,000 people.  And there was a 5000 member church that wanted to move there.

Well, this would be a perfect location for such a congregation, would it not?

But using the arguments raised here, it really would not be so good.  Because if the 5000 member church would quickly grow to 25,000 members, then by the logic of those here, it could only be concluded that the growth would just continue indefinitely, so that 25,000 member congregation would soon double (because that's what these churches do, don't you know).  And in a very short time, that spot would be outgrown.

So the fabulous location, using the "Endless Projected Growth" formula relied upon so heavily by CC Opposers, would easily be deniable by any town Planning Board because they could say, "Well, right now that Church fits here, but just wait, pretty soon it will be TOO BIG, and because we know all large churches grow indefinitely, we’ll deny this one on our knowledge of what will most certainly happen”

Of course, with this reasoning, anything could be denied by Planning Boards around the country; “You want to build an Ice Cream Shop?  Well, your current plans fit but what about when thousands of people realize that ice cream tastes really good and start flocking here to eat it?  There will be too many people!  It will clog our streets! Sorry, Application Denied.”

The point?

CC can’t be denied because the Planning Board “Knows” that they will eventually grow too big.

The proposal is WAY too big as it is currently before the board. Forget the number of people, it is the size and magnitude of the footprint that will end this sharade. Of course there is a pretty good chance that a school will be built at this site, the rest becomes trivial.

Here's where you lost me:

"Well, right now that Church fits here..."

Who said this?

...even the Rev himself says it doesn't fit here right now. It must be nearly doubled in size to fit.

Therein lies the rub.

The good Rev had his chance to let us know the TRUE growth projections, he did not.  Now the planning board must use their best judgement to figure out the growth.  This may end up being more then Ireland could have thought of...and maybe less.

Honesty is really the best bet... when it is lacking you must use your best judgement.

Moronic hypothesis.  Even the Vatican has growth limits just like the Meadowlands sports area does.  Duh.

The Loon is back, continuing to completely miss the point again.

Doty, your points are imbedded in your own imagination.

Point is, the Rev. has projections. He's just well-advised not to share them with us.
