RT Residents vs. Planning Board

Clearly, the residents of RT have many reasons why they would prefer that CC not locate within their township. And while these reasons are worth debate, are any of them relevant to the decidion making body that will have the first legal say as to what will happen here?

Residents: We don't want to support CC by our taxes, and if they're allowed in we'll have to because the church won't pay taxes.

Planning Board: Tax impact won't be considered at all.

Residents:CC will ruin the environment with it's expansion plans.

Planning Board: CC must comply with NJ State regulations.

Residents: RLUIPA is a bad law and should be struck down.

Planning Board: Planning boards must abide by local, state & federal laws.  When deciding a case, Planning boards must rule according to existing laws.

Residents: CC will cause constant traffic nightmares.

Planning Board: Traffic impact studies and testimony by traffic experts will be used to determine traffic impact.

Residents: CC is just too large for RT.

Planning Board: Will decide if the CC application complies with the current zoning regulations and land use laws.

New school is built at 140 Green Pond Road. End of this silly sharade - planning board has nothing to do with this decision - they come out like a rose. A new school WILL be built, 140 GPR makes the most sense, get used to it CC.

So what are you suggesting we do? Rewind the clock...

It would be best if no one makes any effort to inform the public about this.

The public doesn't need to make a stink about it.

Then, nobody does research, and nobody speaks out, and nobody knows we'd have a problem with this project.

The planning board says, "hey, no problem--the residents obviously aren't concerned about it. Nobody's here at the planning board meetings. Besides, we don't want problems with scary RLUIPA!"

Then...we wake up and there's Christ Church's Family Life Center--along with whatever else comes with it: The good AND the bad.

And nobody said a peep.

Happy little world ya got there.

But we're going to learn about this, and do our research. And let our leaders KNOW we've got a problem with this. And we'll fight it tooth and nail.

We're "in this for the long haul"--we're "more gung-ho than ever!"

"And if it means litigation, then so be it."

Words sound familiar?
