it would be great if all cc supporters would stop trying to make all of the people in RT - who are against cc coming to our town (for legitimate reasons) - look like a bunch of hateful people...take a step back and think about how you would react to something like this trying to move into your backyard...
we merely want to preserve the quality of the place we live...we don't want traffic backed up for miles...we don't want the wetlands and trees destroyed and cut down to make room for a huge stucture...we don't want to loose tax revenue to cc - which - although will offer things to the community (which are already available by way of our other places of worship and obviously - if you go to one church...you are going to use the facilities/programs they provide...plus these programs are truly for people from other towns (ireland's followers) - ireland is merely opening them to the town to say he is offering something...the point is - we don't NEED what he is offering...we don't want to pay for a place that we will not use...
we are not hateful people...we worship or not...as we choose...we have an abundance of places to do so if we choose...and we don't appreciate ireland's bully tactics...(the threat of being sued and called racists)...we have the right to fight for the place we call home...and we will...
but - my basic questions still stand for ireland's supporters...
why would ireland move so far away from his founding??? these people want him there and need his facility...and some/many won't be able to follow him to RT - doesn't that upset you?
why can't you see the real issue for what it is...and as good christians...say hey...you know...the roads can't handle such traffic...hey...it's really upsetting the town...we have some stuff to offer...let's go somewhere where our gifts will be shared with people who need and want it...and not disturb this community??? i'm sure there are some communities that would benefit from cc...just not RT...
stop calling us racists...and saying that is the real reason we don't want cc here...it really is a cheap excuse on your part...we have real reasons...reasons that may or may not be submitable to a court...but REAL issues to the people who live in RT...
ireland has the power to end all of this...and make both sides happy...RT can only fight to protect thier town...
I hope that all parties stay focused on the matter at hand - the real facts about the application. Religion and how one believes is not part of the concerns of Rockaway Twp residents nor is the tone of ones skin.
