I have lived here for 13 years and have noticed the traffic on green pond road increase significantly over that time. even with the Agilent building closed for the past few years the traffic seems to be worse than ever.
Observations:
1. Making a left out of Meridan is almost impossible at certain times of the day.
2. During rush hour, traffic at the rt 80/Morris Ave intersection is a mess
3. The new day care center has opened in the old Levelor building. A lot of cars coming in and out are creating a dangerous situation. Also there is space in that building for another large tenent.
4. There is already an approval for a town center behind Green Pond Villiage. Whatever ends up on this land will cause more traffic and more turns on and off GPR.
I am no traffic expert, but I can't see how there is any way this project will ever see the light of day. Directing cars from a major mega complex onto secondary residential roads is unaceptable.
I agree. It's clearly unacceptable and that's why I'm cautiously optimistic about the outcome. I just can't believe that reasonable people, even to be politically correct, would force an obvious bad and dangerous situation on us. For a lot of us, our livelihood and safety involves going past 140 GPR either for work or in case of an emergency to our nearest hospital, St Clares. I seem to recall that there is language in RLUIPA that provides for a town to turn down a church's expansion plans if there is a compelling public interest in doing so. Clearly, we meet that test in a number of ways that have been repeated on this forum and elsewhere.
Re: the old Levelor bldg...does anyone know if Party City is just going to have its corp hdq there or will there be a retail outlet there as well for them? It seems like an awfully huge bldg for just a hdq. Just curious.
I heard that it was only the corp offices. But I do agree there is an awful alot of space just for offices....lol...doesn' that sound familar? 140 Greenpond Road, Offices for the CC....
