Talking that cc should disclose the details of the Agilent agreement:
"The residents and officials of RT should know the answers to these questions. We think it's incumbent upon the church to disclose the pertinent details of its agreement with Agilent."
My take from reading the editorial is that the Daily Record, which has been SPOON FED headline stories from our friend whiney, is now upset because whiney has clammed up.
What's up now?
Christ Church should disclose Agilent deal
Is Christ Church being knocked out of the box, not by the township, not be residents, but by its "landlord?" It may be.
Christ Church has been trying to move its 5,000-member congregation's house of worship from Montclair to Green Pond Road in Rocakway Township for two years. It signed an agreement with Agilent Technologies in July 2003 to buy the old company site for $14 million.
Since then, Christ Church has been before the planning board just about every month for a year and a half, and it has sued the township for violating its right to build. In truth, the church is not close to putting a shovel in the ground.
Agilent now says it will again put the site on the market, but that Christ Church remains, according to an Agilent spokesman, the "contract purchaser." If Christ Church is still the contact purchaser, why would anyone else seriously consider buying the site?
Does Chirst Church's July 2003 agreement include a provision that the sale is off unless the transaction is consummated within two years? Will Christ Church have a chance to outbid any new suitors for the site?
The residents and officials of Rockaway Township should know the answers to these questions. We think it's incumbent upon the church to disclose the pertinent details of its agreement with Agilent.
