A few months ago we launched the Voices of Rockaway website to provide information on meetings, articles and other matters related to the application to develop 140 Green Pond Rd. We have had 5000 visitors thus far! (the counter was not put up until a few weeks after the site launched). The linking to this message board began several weeks ago and has allowed us to participate in open discussion. I have received calls from all over NJ and the country from other communities facing similar issues. Many have mirrored out structure and have found our format useful. It is said that imitation is the best form of flattery; in short we are very flattered!
Communities have a say in the future. Speak up people our voices are being heard! I am proud to be part of a community that is so committed to preserving its land, air, water, roadways, infrastucture and one that is finacially responsible!
Careful you don't break your arm Lisa, patting yourself on the back!
5000 visitors? Hardly. Your web counter only records 'hits' on the front page. It doesn't record visitors. To see this simply go to that page and hit REFRESH a few times and watch the counter go up, up, up! One visitor can easily record 10 hits as they jump around your site.
In addition, as any geek will tell you, it is quite simple to set the "web counter" at any value you wish, making it appear that there have been more visitors than there really are.
All this is not to say that vort isn't a bit 'famous', although 'notorious' might be the better way to describe your group.
Maybe you can now focus your awesome power on slowing down development around the mall.
Ooops, I forgot, that's somebody else's battle because it isn't in your back yard.
