I have had some time to look at the plans and discuss them with some experts. I would highly recommend those living on Meriden Rd get down to town hall and look at these plans ASAP! The traffic lights have moved again, there are 2 of them one at the Green Pond Rd. and Meriden Rd and a second light at the entrance/exit on Meriden Rd. Futher the exit on Green Pond Rd has a unique new feature, it only allows you to exit to the right (aka NORTH on GPR), thus taking you back on to Meriden Rd and out the rural back roads. To all those in this area of the town, I highly recommend you attend the next planning board meeting on July 25, it is all of you who will be taking the biggest hit on the traffic if this moves forward.
Spread the word to one and all.
Happy 4th,
Lisa

The Christ Church Plan for the redevelopment of 140 Green Pond Rd is just too big for the area.
The devil may be in the details, but the real devil is in cc. The answer to the problem at hand in is the macro's and not the details.
We all know that ireland want to take over this township. That is a "Macro."
The question is how to stop him. Silly little details are not going to have any effect. If you believe that, then I have a bridge that I want to sell ya in ny..
Folks, ya gotta come up with something creative, not "lame" lime details. If ya play with details to defend yourselves from this monster, well, that is just plain and simply very sad, indeed. Naive!
What a crock. This will now not only affect Rockaway, but Denville. Can you see all the cars going down Diamond Spring to the middle of town? Now I hope Denville will stop thinking that they are glad this isn't happening to their town because it is. This will cause massive congestion in the center of town with those cars trying to get to Rt 80. I can't believe even cc's congregation will want to travel all these winding two lane roads. They'll probably try to U turn on Meridan. What about the turn off lane into CC going North on GPR? If there isn't one, well we all know what will happen. I don't agree with Rational, but we must try anything cause this will destroy not only Rockaway, but Denville too. Again, why is Ireland going through all this trouble to put his mega center where it's not feasible, costing more money than if he went somewhere else, putting a burden on his own members with massive traffic jams? Why is RT so important? Maybe we should take 140 over. There must be oil on that property.
RT is very important to him because of something that the mayor told me a few years ago subsequent to a chat that he had with ireland.
Ireland told Sceusi (according to my discussion with him on the phone shortly thereafter) that RT is way behind in its Mount Laurel Housing allocations. He approached the Mayor and told him that he will help to solve that problem with his church and his "Community Development Corporation."
Low Income Housing.
Did anyone really belive that his K-5 school would work? People would wake up in Irvington, bring their kids to school in RT, then go to work, then come back to RT to pick up their kids, go back to work and then go home in the inner city? Come on folks. Ya gotta be smarter than that to suck that one in and say, "yeah, that is what he is intending". How stupid are you all??
Give us all a break. This man is up to no good here and has plans beyond what most of you have considered! Wake up folks!
as far as 'traffic flow" goes, megas are generally concerned with 2 things: 1) getting the people into the lot & parked quickly & 2) getting the people out of the lot quickly.
Unfortunately some megas are not concerned with the affects on the surrounding neighborhood. This will solve 2 problems for cc ...# 1.... the traffic study will look alot better on GPR & # 2... they will be able to empty the lot much quicker since they do not have enough parking for what they are planning to do & the size they anticipate growing to (by some estimates 4-6 services per weekend according to a cc member)
this will unfortunately provide a very congested & yes even dangerous situation on Meridan rd. ... should be interesting to see how they like all the radar traps in boonton twp.
I posted a message on the denville message board at nj.com this morning informing readers of the change to the plans that now direct traffic down meriden road and through denville. For some reason this message was deemed inappropriate and has been deleted. Very interesting. Anyway, I wonder what the traffic studies will now look like and whether they will need to follow the exiting traffic through denville on their hypothetical journey toward rt 80. The backup at diamond spring road and broadway in denville should be pretty ugly I would imagine. I'm not sure how this is a better scenario than the intersection at rt 80 and GPR. I'm also not sure how the study would estimate the number of cars that find a way to make a U turn and head south on GPR anyway. Should be interesting.
I'm thinking that cc cannot get the timing of the lights changed so that's why the new right turn only. U turns on Merdian would be disasters waiting to happen. There are way too many blind spots and the road is pretty narrow. The hoards traveling to get to 80 through Boonton Twsp & Denville would be another disaster. This traffic plan won't fly. Even those from cc will get rather disgusted with all the traveling they have to do by going down Merdian and Diamond Spring and sitting in traffic at the intersection of Diamond Spring and Broadway. When is the rEV going to realize there's no way he can get his masses to 140 GPR and out without massive traffic jams. When his he going to realize his plans of glory are way too big for RT. Save face rEV and go somewhere else that can support your mega dreams.
You actually believe that? How old are you? Results come from clean analytical thinking coupled with targeted work. Any adult knows this. Guess you are still in HS.
Remember the ordeal with the fire road onto Sanders Rd. for the proposed town center, or the connection into White Meadow Lake from that newer housing development, also off Sanders. both resulted in a gate being placed to block the entrane except for emergency vehicles.
Consider the order of magnatude CC brings relative to these 2 examples, then ask yourself, why would the board approve a plan that directs significant traffic through residential streets?
I tried to respond to a post in the denville message board on nj.com re the traffic being routed through denville but for some reason even though I was allowed to log in and compose a message, when I clicked to preview it, the message could not be displayed. I've posted there before occasionally and have not had this problem. I couple of days ago, I successfully posted a message there re the denville traffic impact but the message was shortly deleted. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem trying to post to the denville nj.com message board.
You do not live in a bubble, and you never have. All though you have done all the work to thwart this Megachurchalopolis, the residents of Denville and Boonton Township Overwhelmingly support your efforts. I talk to everybody, including the town merchants and civics groups. All though it may appear so, you are not alone.
It is nice to realize that Denville and Boonton residents are cognizant of the fact that ireland will totally trample on their rights just as he has on ours. I always wonder, "where is the Christian outcry" about this guy? Does he really represent the thinking of Christians? Not being Christian, I really do not know???
