This is our town resident, supporter of CC and man who prays that G-d not look favorably on his "eminies" (those who oppose the application).
I for one would not want this man or his wife teaching MY children anything. He should spend time with his own family and work on the manners of his son befor trying to teach other childern how to act.
One guess... he wishes to bring his "program" to CC, lets guess that he will make money off of this. How many of his reference are from Essex cnty?
I saw his presentation in Randolph myself. It was a wonderful event.
Don't you people ever wonder where your endless supply of venom comes from, that you have to attack anyone would dare even show a hint of support for Christ Church?
I for one, would not want any child to have to sit there and listen to him or his wife talk about anything. Especially a child trying to learn G-d's way. There are 7 deadly sins. Let's ask the Jones how many they have commited. I know of at least one. Thou shall not ____, (fill in the blank). How can any child or adult take him or his wife seriously? Well, I guess that's because anyone who goes to his talks does not know his children. How can you be a motivational speaker and have children that act the way his does? Maybe Russ and his lovely wife should think about their actions of the past and really ask themselves if they are the right people to be giving talks about anything. I would suggest that him and his family hide their faces around town, cause they all should be embarrassed of themselves trying to cover the past. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't hate the Jones, I am disgusted with the him and his wife. And ashamed to call him a resident of Rockaway. They should be residents of Sing-Sing.
Finally!!! Someone has the nerve to tell it like it is. You obviously know all about the Jones'. I too am so sick and tired of everyone dancing around what they really are. TELL IT LIKE IT IS!!!
Oh please Karen!!! Do you think if it was you that he would keep it above the belt? I don't think so!! He chose to put his "holier than thou" self out there. He deserves it!!!!!!!
common curiosity or just my "seething hatred" (overstate things much, russ???) i'd love to know about the skeletons in the closet of this most righteous family...
I have only heard the short story on what you people are talking about. All I can say is I must have missed an important element of the story. Although I do not have much respect for Russ regarding his actions on the CC mess and find him to be a little "off", the recent postings are really uncalled for.
I have to agree; it's not right to find glee in someone else's tragedy--regardless of how you justify it or who you feel is to blame or how you feel about the person, it's just not right.
I too have heard the abbreviated version of this story and it's a tragedy, really. I don't feel this aspect is fair game.
Say what you want, but I'm not going to comment any further on this.
Interesting tidbit from Russ' pOWER wORKSHOP website:
Where is the Power Workshop presently working? Throughout New Jersey and parts of New York. Approximately 100 presentations are given each year to around 50,000 children and parents. The home office is located in Rockaway, NJ. National expansion is antcipated in the very near future. TV coverage will reach an additional 2 million.
How does the Power Workshop raise funds? Presently, funding is through ...<other doners snipped out> church donations...
I wonder where the national expansion will come from (Rev. Ireland maybe)?
I wonder where the TV coverage will come from (Christ Church maybe?).
I wonder if Christ Church is donating to Russ?
I wonder when Russ will fix the spelling of anticipated?
Tragedy - 1. a serious drama typicaly describing a conflict between the protagonist and superior force (as destiny) and having a sorrowful or disastrous conclusion that excites pity or terror. 2. a disastrous event. 3. tragic quality or element. Defined by Webster's
I highly doubt that what has happened in the past, as tragic as it may be for the rest of us , was a tragedy for the Jones. I would have to say that it was a thoughtless, careless, neglectful, half-witted and irresponsible decision that was made. And as little as what happened in the past as to do with the CC application, Mr. Jones chose to voice his opinion and speak out on behalf of the CC application. He put himself out there to be scutinized. And if ToddDavid, aka Russ Jones, can dredge up the past on the Salberg's and Jenkin's, I see no problems with someone shedding some light on what is in the Jones's past. If Mr. Jones thinks that he can sit back and stay out of the limelight, he should have thought about that before he started his "crusade" to support the CC application. If he can take the heat, can the F**K out of the kitchen. And in this case the kitchen is Rockaway.
Ok. I have to put my 2 cents in. This has nothing to do with probably anything. I do not know Russ Jones personally, but I can't help but notice, Does anyone else think that Russ Jones look like a cross between Bart Simpson, Don Johnson and Carson from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy?
I can not believe I am going to so this but I am going to stick up for the Jones (yeh you heard me correctly).
Lets deal in some facts. There was an accident on Green Pond Rd. and a child was killed. This was about 10 yrs ago. It was tragic and some believe avoidable. What people think about the events of 10 yrs ago have nothing to do with the Christ Church application.
The Jones have to deal with this sad event each day. While I do not like the way Mr. Jones speaks about his neighbors or his ethics - the death of a child is a very sad event.
I took a excersise class with Russ several years ago at the Telemark Club house, he was on disability at the time for a back injury, yet fit enough to excersise for hours. He spoke very openly about being on disabilty. I am a person living with chronic illness and I find the abuse of "disability" very upsetting. This is why I have a problem with his ethics.
Please lets leave the tragic events of this childs death in the past as it is the neighborly thing to do.
The premise of his business, his bad hair, or his embrace of a particular flavor of religion are things I'm not going to comment on.
His angle, tactics and support of CC moving here does stink, and for that I would boycott his business and products. It's apparent that profit could be a motivator, but does the church moving here guarantee him of anything, just because it's down the road??
Because...
I do business with people that I trust to be honest, straightforward and have those types of ethics. And when I can, I do business with people I can relate to, and I can't relate to someone who supports a detrimental action to this town.
I feel for what happened. Perhaps that is one of the reasons he is the way he is. Sometimes you run into life changing experiences, and develop a need to overcompensate.
