1. When did Lisa ever call herself "innocent" or a "do-gooder"?

2. If she's not acting in the township's best interest, whose best interest is she acting in?

Ted,

Please note - I nor any member of VORT seeks public office, seeks to purchase the agilent property, seeks to financially gain from our efforts (in fact we have spent our own $$ to oppose the application) and we seek nothing else in which we would personally gain from ANYTHING.  Please tell us then if we are not interested in the best interest of Rockaway Twp...why are we doing this?

You may have "motives" for your actions that have personal gain - please do not think that everyone has this point of view.  Sometimes you have to do what is RIGHT in order to protect what you love.

We will continue to fight for Rockaway Twp, our home.  If you care to have fits at public meetings and call people names go right ahead, we are busy with our focus on the real issues - our environment, roadways, water, traffic and tax dollars.

Sincerely,

Lisa Salberg

As I’ve already said, Lisa and vORT are working for the interests of residents in the northern section of Rockaway who have joined forces with forces in the 2nd ward.  The 2nd ward wants Fleetwood to be open space and the north end wants a school near their neighborhood.  The remaining 2/3 of the township are ignored by Lisa’s little group.

Lisa was sucked into this battle.  I’m not suggesting that she has political motives; I only suggest that the girl can really motivate a crowd (e.g. Copeland rally).  Lisa has (or had) enough political juice to run for office and that fact has Sceusi, Sheninger and Schievella shaking in their boots.

I can tell by your other comments that you don’t even realize that you are being used

Ted,

A questions about 'sections of town'.

What about the Eastern section of town - Meridan Rd / Oak Meadows / Meriden Estates.  Many people there are also 'involved' and do not want the church coming to town.

Don't forget White Meadow Lake also.  Some of the posters you see on this board are from the lake area.  Remember, many of them need to use Green Pond Rd. via Sanders and they will also be greatly affected by the traffic.  That's another section of town that is afraid of the impact.  The only section of town that probably doesn't care, is the mall area, since these are people who do not travel Green Pond Rd. frequently.  If, as you say, a 'deal' has been made with that section with regard to the Fleetwood property, there's not many areas of town left!

I am still taking donations to help Ted move to Montclair.  Are there any more contributors to this fine cause?  It would improve the environment trememdously here in RT.  So far, we have $12,000.00 in pledges.  BTW - we have friends who live in Montclair.  CC, according to them, has basically destroyed a portion of Montclair on Sundays, the section in which our friends live.  Total gridlock by traffic and other stuff.  Our friends are very excited about the prospects of CC moving here to RT.  They that pray that it goes through.  I am told that they want their town back.  Since CC will not go through here in RT, I feel that it is a natural place for Ted to move to, a project that I am glad to help sponser.  He will feel very comfortable.

Craig,

12K is enough. You can buy him a house on William Street in Montclair, it's about 2 minutes down the road from CC. A house in this neighborhood should qualify for some type of urban renewal grant. Ted will be very happy there I'm sure. Just don't go out at night.

Also, what was the "blurb" statement about Rockaway? You mentioned the one about Montclair but not the other one.

Thanks!

none there for Rockaway so here is one:

With over 20,000 residents, Rockaway Township is a family community that offers a unique combination of distinctive neighborhoods which retain a small town character, with lake communities, new housing developments and quiet, more rural residential areas.  The entire community is a rolling countryside with excellent recreational facilities.

I am beginning to think you may have a problem with your memory......  How many times do you need to call Lisa not a "do gooder"?????  We heard you the first time.

Although I must admit,  I believe you may be a jealous, the fact is since you were not the first one to step up to the plate in the beginning and protect RT from this Family Life Center that Mr Ireland would like to build at 140 Greenpond Rd.  Would this be a different screnario if you had the first information meeting to educate the residents of Rockaway Township?  Well since the 4 os us did, does that bother you?  Do you feel the need  to protest the efforts that we make to protect our community, environment, streams, and traffic impact?

Lisa may be the one that you hear from more than the rest of us, but we are all involved and a majority of the township residents care about what happens to our community.    You are intitled to your opinion, but bashing those who care, you are not entitled to.  So please,  keep your negative opinions about people to yourself.  But please feel free to comment on RT concerns.  This is a FREE SPEECH BOARD.........

RE: MONTCLAIR/ROCKAWAY INCOME DATA

Sorry, I think you’ve looked at some apples-to-oranges data.

You’ve picked up the “Median Family Income” from Montclair and the “Median Household Income” from Rockaway.

Montclair township Median Household Income: 74,894
Montclair township Median Family Income: 96,252
http://www.wnjpin.net/OneStopCareerCenter/LaborMarketInformation/lmi10/inc/essinc.htm

Rockaway township Median Household Income: 80,939
Rockaway township Median Family Income: 89,281
http://www.wnjpin.net/OneStopCareerCenter/LaborMarketInformation/lmi10/inc/morinc.htm

Granted, Montclair is still higher…I know there’s a section in Montclair where the people are incredibly wealthy, and a section where the people are incredibly poor (I have a friend who lives on William street in an apartment building; there are squatters living in the attic there, and that’s not a “big deal”…I’ve never heard of that here). Here in Rockaway I think things are a bit more moderate.

I can’t imagine under what circumstances the median “household income” would be almost $20,000 different from the “family income”. I haven’t got time at work to investigate the difference between the two income statistics.

Anyone more statistically knowledgeable than I am who can answer that?

http://www.city.red-deer.ab.ca/Connecting+with+Your+City/Statistics+and+Demographics/Statistics+and+Demographics+Definitions.htm

-----------

What is the difference between households and families?

A family consists of two or more people (one of whom is the householder) related by birth, marriage, or adoption residing in the same housing unit. A household consists of all people who occupy a housing unit regardless of relationship. A household may consist of a person living alone or multiple unrelated
individuals or families living together.

RE: Lisa II

That was an interesting Montclair quote from fact-index.com, but you left out part of it:

It basically has all the amenities of a great urban neighborhood.

Montclair is urban.  It is a town designed to handle lots of people.  The population density of Montclair is 6190 people / square mile.  The infrastructure to support so many people far exceeds what Rockaway Township has to offer.

Rockaway Township's population density is under 500 per square mile.  It's much more RURAL and can't support a large campus.

Changing topics - someone was talking about Montclair vs Rockaway Township family income.  The averages are fairly close, but if you look at the breakdown (see below), you will find that Montclair has a much larger low-income population and also a much larger high-income population.  If you want to look up census info, go right to the source - http://factfinder.census.gov and click on "fact sheet".  You can get all sorts of information on any city / town in the country.

Formatting still not working great - but the table in the previous post - 1st 2 set of numeric columns is Rockaway township and the 2nd 2 set of numeric columns is Montclair.  1st # is number of families.  2nd is % of city/town population in that category.

Ted...can you please answer the questions?

Doesn't seem like they're that difficult.

Maybe you've already answered them and I just didn't "get" the connection.

If so, please rephrase to simplify for me.

Thanks!

Median is often used in demographic statistics, however, average is often much more instructive.  Median is thrown off by extremes whereas average is not as much.  Median is a "ranked" or "ordered" number with the middle number being chosen as the value after ranking has been performed.  Average sums all values and divides by N where N is the number of units so no element is missing from the statistical average.  Median is intentially used to "dial out" extremes in the data on either end of the spectrum.
