There was a posting made on NJ.com that I responded to that I now see has been deleted. The gist of the posting and my response related to whether a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code is allowed to engage in the political process. My lay understanding is that they are not. That being said, why is the spokesman for CC commenting upon and attempting to influence politics in RT through newspaper articles in the Daily Record?
"To be tax-exempt as an organization described in IRC Section 501(c)(3) of the Code, an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for one or more of the purposes set forth in IRC Section 501(c)(3) and none of the earnings of the organization may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate at all in campaign activity for or against political candidates."
got this in about a minute - has cc, through it's official pr man now participating for and against our local polictical candidates???
As I stated in a post under a different thread, Ireland is NOT a moral and upstanding man. He has a total disregard (bordering on contempt) for the law.
As far as he is concerned, these things do not apply to him. And you know something? He just may be right!
