Ms. Chodos, I would like to make you aware of a situation that many people here in Rockaway are finding not only disturbing, but also extremely frustrating.
There is evidence of either a deliberate desire to sway public opinion, or there is someone tampering within the moderation of one of your boards.
Many residents here in Rockaway oppose Christ Church's move to our town for a number of reasons that we can review at another time.
Those of us who have attempted to fairly debate this issue on your board have found our posts supporting our position deleted. We have also found our posts directly questioning the one or two supporters that make up a significant of this move also deleted. Conversely, we find the other sides topics and replies still remain on the board. This has not just recently started, but has been going on for some time.
Recently there has been a growing frustration about this.
Myself and several other people have contacted Dean Betz, and questioned him about this issue, and what is perceived as a bias, with no relief. The e-mails go back and forth. His responses have been terse, boilerplate, not satisfying, seem to wear at ones patience, and quite frankly are not of the stature that I would tolerate from an employee of mine. That is the secondary reason for contacting you directly, as I believe he reports to you.
I do recognize your desire to control the boards, and to moderate them. But... just as there should be responsible reporting, there should be responsible moderation of theses public forums.
Just like any other matter of public opinion if only on side is allowed to talk, I think you would agree, that that is not a good thing.

Very interesting... I spoke to Barbara, a very nice woman, and explained what has been going on. It seems that within minutes of our call all the posts re: VORT and the school (and the lies within) have been deleted from the board. I have emailed Barbara a brief history of what has been going on she will read it when she gets to the office around noon tomorrow. I would suggest you forward her your previous emails with Dean Betz and your own opinion as to what has happed on the NJ.com site - she is the General Manager and I think she does care about how poorly NJ.com looks in all of this.
Good job once again...let's hope that the buck will stop with this guys boss. Let's keep up the pressure folks, the truth will stand on it's own merits if given half a chance...
