A copy of nj.com posting 1721 has been reposted on nj.com by half a dozen people now. (To see the saved version of 1721, see the "Priceless" thread on this message board).
nj.com keeps deleting it.
There is nothing in that post against nj.com rules.
What is 'wrong' with 1721 is that todddavid loses an argument and can't answer questions.
Also - A few of the people who have reposted it have now been banned and have had their ip addresses blocked. These are people who have never posted anything at nj.com before. 1721 contains a valid conversation.
Why does nj.com censor information about the Christ Church application to purchase 140 Green Pond Road? Why are their censors one-sided? Why is it that when a post makes Rockaway Township look bad, it remains online, no matter how many complain about it, but when a post makes Christ Church's application look bad, it is deleted and the poster is banned.
Please email Dean Betz from nj.com to complain. He can not ignore us if 20 or 30 or 50 of us write to him. Complain about their censorship. Ask him why they are censoring us against their own policies. Ask him why 1721 was removed multiple times. His email address is dbetz@nj.com.
If you email him - please be polite, but demand to know WHY ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP'S VOICE IS BEING CENSORED!
If anyonen receieves a response from him, post it here!
Good luck .... Like it or not .... they're under no obligation to supply anyone with any rationale/reasoning or otherwise that's used to delete posts ....

According to Mr. Dean Betz (dbetz@nj.com) of nj.com
NJ.com has no position on local issues in Rockaway. Our role is to provide space for people to discuss what matters to them in the town.
He has said in the past that posts were deleted that should not have been. I don't see anything wrong with this posting. was his response to a post sent to him.
The point is, nj.com management is claiming that they do NOT censor while at the same time, they do. If they have an opinion on the matter, that is fine. Let them state it and then let them censor what they will. However, they CLAIM to be completely innoncent of censorship, while the reality is they frequently censor valid posts. This is very disturbing when it comes from the same people who represent the Star Ledger.
Isn't it pretty clear that someone at nj.com is being paid to do what they are doing? The keys have been given to CC. Money is likely the motivator and all the letters of complaint are not going to change it. However, if we had our own media consultant who could pay off the right people over there would solve the problem. I would not say to our media constultant "go pay them off." I would say to them, "solve this problem if you want to get paid." Otherwise, we just have to forget about it.
