I have just returned from the Highland Council meeting! I had a chance to address the council and let them know what was going on with the CC application. It was a great meeting and let me tell you all WE HAVE TONS OF SUPPORT ALL OVER THE PLACE!
We all know that Whiney monitors this board as part of his high priced PR services to CC so I will not give details on my converstations with many high ranking Highland officials, employees of the DEP and Attorney Generals office - but lets just say WE were complimented by many many people for the good work we are doing to protect our environment and demanding smart growth!

Nice work, Lisa. But, remember, only in Horseshoes and Handgrenades does 'close' matter. It seems like the world supports us, but, that all may be bs in the courtroom. I know that is a bad analogy, but, support means next to nothing unless we can overcome the PC nature of the problem at hand. And, we still do not have any PR rep to present our case to the Jury Pool. CC certainly does.
That ultimatley means that we have to say, (as I believe Mueller advocates), - Just say No. That is the extent of our bluster.
There is more then one way to skin a cat as they say... Trust me my dear... we have more support then you can imagine.
Many pieces are at play as we speak - all of which are legal and all of which are binding. I will say that the Highlands Council was really happy to hear that at this point CC owes them about 10 million dollars in fines and for an entity that is desperately looking for funding this was a very happy piece of information.

ROTFL! I needed that. Thanks! Life in the real world has been much to serious for me lately. Ya know, deadlines, project cost, etc. all driving me a bit nutso. These things are always corporate absurdities when it comes to product development (the JSF project being my most recent experience with this stuff).
Anyway, I wanna see who is going to stand by us in the political arena and not just compliment us where the "tire really meets the road."
My hat is off to you and VORT for your efforts. But efforts do not count for much in the grand scheme of things. Ya get a ribbon. You are doing the good work, not doubt about it. But please spend a little more time trying to think things out with your lawyer (Michael) and strategize how to spend resources wisely. If you did that, and expressed to the public at large a theory of operation and an method of attack, you might enjoy more township financial support. We certainly would consider providing it, if we saw a thoughtful plan.
Just because you do not know what is going on do not assume you think you have a clue what is happening behind the scenes. Not everything is appropriate to discuss in public and somethings are better left unsaid for the time being.
Oh and the 10 million in fines is technically accurate, read the new Highlands Fees and Fines published May 9, 2005. How, when and if the DEP will actually follow there own regulations and fines remains to be seen. The cost of todays activities - $0.00, what did we gain? Great connections, new friends and free press...not to mention the things I can not mention

If you know something that we do not know, no need to publish it here. You have our number. If not, it is published. We have plenty of financial resources. We have helped out before and will help out again if you can convince us that you have a real plan of attack against this monster.
