Post Info TOPIC: It all adds up

It all adds up

It appeared that there were about 200 people at the meeting.

It is estimated that in any given sampling of the population, about 1% will be very stupid.

RTWP has about 20,000 residents.

From the sampling of questioners coming to the microphone, it's clear where that 1% was tonight.

It all adds up.

My quick estimate was 350 (400 would be reasonable too) - There were about 20 rows of seats in 3 sections.  Each row had about 5 people - that's 300.  I estimated about 50 in the upper section.

Of course, there were another 20 or so on stage, plus about 5 police officers.

The Daily Record said 'over 300'.  Of course, the Daily Record also talked about Mr. Streck being questioned in the last hour of the hearing and did not even mention VORT's planner being present.  I wonder if they thought the meeting ended at 10?  Obviously, for them, it did.

Shame on you Mr. Jennings.  If you are going to report on our meetings, at least you should ATTEND the full meeting.  You missed the most interesting part!  I understand about newspaper deadlines.  If you had one, you should have at least written about what you missed and stated that the deadline for the article was 10PM (or whatever).  A follow up article a day later could talk about the last hour of the meeting.  I hope you will at least read the transcripts to find out what transpired.

So we agree there was between 300-400 in attendance, and about 10 CC people.

Anyone notice the traffic back-up on Franklin Road, to the light on Rt 46 when we were leaving? that was probably 200 cars at most. What will traffic look like on Green Pond and Meridan with 2000 parking spaces woth of cars coming and going in multiple directions. Traffic lights will only make the problem worse. Of course the smart parishioners will take a short cut through Meridan or Old Beach Glenn.

Keep in mind also that these are RT residents, who like us, DIDN'T sit in the traffic and instead took a back route to get home.

To Rick S:

Jennings has a deadline, he stepped out to file his report just as the expert began.  The reporter returned inside of 5 minutes and missed very litlte.  There will be future stories, don't worry.

I hope he fits the embarassing moment in.  You know, the one when Dimin told vORT they Ignored the law.

Thanks for the update Ted.   I'm glad he stayed for the full meeting.

Question for you Ted - will the application get kicked out to the board of adjustments?

If it does not, the 'is a megachurch a church' section of the hearings will have eaten up 1/4 of a year.  They started in Feb and will go at least until April (maybe even part of the May meeting).

If it does get sent to the board of adjustments, they will take an additional 2 or 3 months (up to 1/2 year on the topic) before either kicking it back to the pb or setting the stage for a 'under zoning law, is a megachurch a church if the original planners did not contemplate a megachurch' lawsuit.  My assumption is that that would be a state lawsuit (having to deal with zoning), although if RLUIPA was brought in, it could become federal.  Are there any other suits of such a nature pending?  If not, is it possible that this is the issue that will bubble up to the Supreme Court?  How many years will that take?

Either way...tick..tick...tick...

Talk about embarrassing. How bout Steck's testimony? He didn't know much about the other churches he represented, nor much about the area he's trying to get this church into. VORT's Mr. Edelson was much better prepared.

Did you have the same sense that I did in as much as it seemed that Wendy Berger was getting kinds of frantic and frazzled towards the end of the evening?  Nice to see her getting nervous.  Aah, but don't worry about the outcome, Wendy.  You are still billing at 300 bucks an hour.

Based on Dimin's remark to the vORT team last night, I don't think it'll get kicked from the PB.  Also, if vORT had a good response for the legal question, they' d have presented it last night or least by the next meeting.  Instead, they're gonna be a no show in April.

Besies, it doesn't matter.  They'll delay until the Schools make a decision

Craig,

I agree.  Wendy Berger looked VERY frazzled and seemed very upset.  We were watching her face during the testimony.  A number of times, it looked like she wanted to grab her mike and scream loudly into it!

I also thought Mr. Streck's testimony was interesting - when he said that the site is not in a residential zone, therefore no homes will be built across the street from it.  Did anyone else catch that?

I wonder what the people who live in the existing homes across the street on Green Pond and Meridan Roads think of that statement?

I wonder what the person building the BRAND NEW HOME across the street on Meridan Rd. thinks of that statement?

Like I said in my other post, Ted's an ass. Dimin did nothing of the sort to VORTs attorney or planner. They answered the question Dimin had asked them to. He never asked for their opinion about RLUIPA. They had a narrowly defined question to address and that was it, AND THEY DID IT BRILLIANTLY.

It begins again.  If I respond to Craig's attack, you'll all tell me I should be nicer...or that people hate me because I'm not nice.  If I Ignore the attack and take the high road, you'll say I'm condesending.

Anyway Craig, you have a comprehension problem.

Ted,

Maybe all of us with IQ's in the 140's have comprehension problems.  I am a 147 buddy.  Wanna know your own?  Take any of a few available IQ tests (they are free on the internet).  It only takes about 30 minutes of your time.  After you have taken the test, report back.  I will post my results if you post yours!  LOL!!!

As I said befoe Ted, I do not like communicating with idiots.  Cease.
