Today I recieved a call from The New York Times. The reporter is a woman who is from Morris County. I will be meeting with her in the near future to go over more items and show her some of the information we have collected over the past 3 years.
I do not want to disclose all of our conversation at this time (wouldnt want to make your job too easy there Whiney) but I thought you all may find something very interesting. Out of the blue she asked me "didnt Walmart just move in and why dont you all have a problem with that?" HMM where have we hear that old line before? Oh that would be over at NJ.con. Anyway I explained where Walmart was and I explained where 140 GPR was - she was quick to see the difference and laughed at the attempt to compare the two. She grew up shopping at the Rockaway Mall so she is VERY aware of the roads and layout.
One thing has become crystal clear someone jumped the gun and ran too court way too fast.
I am not sure about the status of the planning board meetings at this point. I have calls in to find out how this may proceed. When I know more I will post it.
I remain dedicated to the town I love,
Lisa

The Christ Church Plan for the redevelopment of 140 Green Pond Rd is just too big for the area.
There's a letter to the editor in today's daily rag. He talks about spending RT's money on a lawsuit, ranting about VORT, and talking about Walmart. Where have we heard all that before?
I recieved a call this morning and was read the letter. This person seems to think that I am the only person in RT in opposition of the plan. All I can say is that this man is out of touch with reality! His list of "how to's" in terms of dealing with the multiple problems with the plan show clearly he has no idea what he is talking about. Mr. Rosen, how is a traffic light going to stop the traffic problems at rt 80? How is a traffic light going to stop the "f" levels of service from getting worse? How is rememdiation of wetlands going to protect the water?
He believes that this will not have a direct effect on all RT residents. He is very wrong, it will have a direct effect on all tax payers, all commuters, all families, all those in need of public services, and all those using public water.
Walmart? Why do the CC supporters have an ax to grind against a company that moved in to a properly zoned part of town? Why do they have a problem with a large company that can bring jobs to town (and one who hires EVERYONE regardless of religion or any other protected status in the USA).
Have a nice day everyone!
Lisa

The author of that letter, Mr. Rosen, is uninformed, spineless , deviod of logic and fears only that the impending lawsuit may cost us some money. His arguements and some of his proposed solutions to certain problems with this application( donate a fire truck?) show an absolute moronic lack of informed thought. And his claims that this project will only affect part of the town? Is that the anti-NIMBY defense because it may not affect him? What a moron. This guy was elected to our town council?Scary.
Regarding the lawsuit costing us money, I doubt the expenses will exceed the $630K of annual tax revenues from Agilent that would continue until CC takes title. I seems that capitulating to CC's threats and intimidation actually costs money rather than the reverse.
