Once again, Ted resorts to his usual condescending ways to debate an argument (see post titled Ted, Todd and Olive Branches). This is obviously a sign of severe self-esteem problems. Let's examine Ted, shall we?
1. Ted has no political clout and his opinions represent an extremely small minority (maybe 10 persons max) in Rockaway. Liken this to a salmon that struggles for quite some time to get upstream, only to end up in the mouth of a waiting bear. Ted, for your own sanity, please keep your opinions to yourself.
2. Ted has personal issues with anyone who disagrees with him. This is simply childish. I can only imagine what his home life is like. Can you imagine the reaction if his spouse discovers that he maybe improperly balanced the checkbook or forgot to take out the trash? I'm sure the heated argument lasts for days if not weeks.
3. Ted has a strong need for revenge. Since we are all quite aware of Ted's legal debacle with the school system, I am certain that his unabashed desire to support CC is some sort of "screw you" to the residents of Rockaway that failed to support him during his failed legal crusade. CC is Ted's revenge, as he has no logical reason to support it.
My advice?
--Ted should stay out of the public arena, as he is too personally unstable and unable to differentiate between what is right and wrong.
--He is far too in need of attention to be rational.
I assure all of you that after the CC issue is "old news", Ted will find another crusade to gain attention for himself. This is a cxreature starving for attention from everyone.
Ted, I know you better than you will ever know yourself.
Why should anyone accept criticism from someone that won't reveal him/hersef.
Also, are you saying minority opinions should be silence? How unamerican.
Finally, I've probably attended more community meetings than you aand stay more informed. And if you happen to be involvved with the schools, I've been involve longer than any seated BOE member by at least one year.
You are more intelligent than I am. Let's compare credentials someday.
You don't need to accept criticism from me, because like you, I am only offering an opinion, though mine is scientifically based.
Minority opinions are very american--it's when they hurt the lives of good people that they become Un-American.
The fact remains that VERY few in Rockaway agree with your position regarding CC. Not now. Not tomorrow. Not ever.
And since you are the person on the BOE with the longest track record, maybe you are the person we can point fingers at when things go awry.
Hence, why wasn't something done about that obviously mentally-disturbed student who tried repeatedly to burn down his school in your jurisdiction? That's your watch Ted. After the first attempt, why wasn't something done?
Maybe it's because the BOE member with the longest track record sits behind his computer all day posting his thoughts about Christ Church coming to Rockaway.
BOE elections are coming soon ladies and gentlemen.
You know .. I really don't know who "Ted's Shrink" is .. I don't know "Ted Doty" ... I don't know anyone here or elsewhere (i.e. nj.com) personally .... I don't know who posts using either their real name ... I don't know who posts using a pseudonym or nickname here or elsewhere ... I myself post anonymously out of personal safety concerns after years of online experience ... That's the beauty of the internet - posting anonymity if one so chooses.
I have to vent and say, though, that it is really monotonous and tiring to see and read 'personal attack' posts scattered throughout these and other message boards ...
I thought one of the points OF getting away from the nj.com message boards was to get away from the personal attack styles of postings ??
I know I am able to come to my own conclusions in interepreting a person's posting viewpoints and opinions without the subjective analysis and commentaries presented by others regarding intentions and motives etc etc.
I hope this isn't taken in a negative way ... some of the postings are just frustrating to read (here and elsewhere) these last few days.
Can't everyone stick to facts and neutrality as they read/see/believe them ... and agree to disagree if they agree/disagree with someone else ... and leave it at that??
I think some people on this board are confused. tED is no longer on the BOE. I'm sure he can give you the dates he was there. Current members are listed on the Rockaway Township Board of Education website.
"Finally, I've probably attended more community meetings than you aand stay more informed. And if you happen to be involvved with the schools, I've been involve longer than any seated BOE member by at least one year."
Karen, get a clue. I said what I meant. Ive attended more meetings and was an active community member when the current members didn't even know where or when meetings were held
Maybe you need to be more clear. "I've been involved longer..." implies that you are currently holding an office. That is proper English usage. Then again, clarity would be too much to ask.
You should have said, "I used to hold public office, but the election results failed to return in my favor. So now I sit on the internet all day and night searching for a cause."
By the way, are you planning on running for public office here in Rockaway any time soon? I hope you don't plan on being successful, being that you have rubbed nearly the entire Township the wrong way.
Here are two words you might enjoy: Political Suicide.
(1) On nj.com, my posting nickname is: 'readerina' (very infrequent poster)
(2) On this message board, I have posted with the following "NAMES" --
To ??? (A Simple Analysis of Ted Doty) Right or Wrong (Who is TODDAVID) Bystander (Not sure about mailboxes and flyers) Conspiracy Theorist (Who is TODDAVID) To Karen et al (Who is TODDAVID)
(3) I have signed messages as "Lurker" or "Bystander."
It's probably wise and best for me to return to, and stay in, my quiet and read-only corner,
First of all, one does not need to hold elected office to be involved...that' proper english useage. However I was a a BOE member in the past.
Wow. Look at that. Two gramatical errors by our resident-genious-who-is-better-than-all-of-us. I believe usage does not have an 'e' in it Mr. doty. And I also believe, there's only one 'a' in 'I was a BOE member'.
My, my, my, how far the perfect have fallen. Imagine, ted making both spelling and grammatical errors in the same statement. We didn't think it was possible.
(I'm going to sign all my postings as Bystander from now on ... this way y'all will know exactly who I am ... Also helps me in case I'm asked to verify who I am in the future)
... To "Run Ted Run" --
Thanks for the link! The web page that it takes me to has provided me with clearer understanding as to what all the angst is about that exists (by some posters) against this Ted Doty guy ...
I'm also now able to put everyone and everything into a bit better and sharper perspective ... In other words I now understand why some posters' emotions are so intense and subjective and quite non-neutral ...
Sorry about the typo and spelling error in my previous post.
Anyway, you folk need to find more pertinent issues especially if aim is to be hurtful. Actually, my ethics complaints were well founded. The problem is that the Ethics Committee is a group of educators passing judgment on other educators. It’s a little difficult to get them to rule against their own (it was probably foolish to try but they’re the only enforcement agency we have.)
All of my complaints revolved around the fact that the teachers union has too much control over the district and the BOE. Most of you probably believe that as well; if you don’t, you haven’t lived here long or had a child go through Copeland.
My last Complaint involved the non-renewal of Peter Elbert who was, among other things, resolving the respect for authority issue. Thirteen months ago the Union had a private sit-down with board members to bitch about Elbert and a couple of months later the board canned him. I lost the Complaint and got fined but at least I got involved. A couple of you moaned about the fires at Copeland. Where were YOU when I was trying to improve things?…On the couch?
From you most recent message, I'm a bit concerned that my previous posting might have been a tad too vague in what I was trying to say and how I was trying to say what I wanted ... I was intentionally trying to remain on totally non-fingerpointing ground.
Messages, after all, lack the context that body language conveys in conversation and can affect readers in various and unexpected ways. From personal observation and experience, many online posters haven't developed strong netiquette skills and this, unfortunately, can lead to mixed message signals/interpretations.
In any case ... I just wanted to say thanks for providing me (and perhaps other non-Rockaway readers) with a more personal explanation to go along with that other web article I read earlier .. It appears to me that you stood up for what you believed in and kudos to you for that!
On the surface of what I can piece together .. I give you much credit for your courage in standing up for your convictions ... you yourself believed strongly enough in something to take the challenges of the issues to levels that it appears you have in the past.
I do appreciate hearing/reading ALL sides to every issue .. particularly when presented in a non-emotional, factual, non-argumentative, neutral fashion.
Last summer I wrote a letter to the editor, it was in response to a letter Ted had written which appeared to be in favor of the CC application. In this letter I said Ted has had some interesting and valid points in the past, some of which I agreed with, but this time I think he is completely wrong. I still stand by this statement. Ted is not the issue here. Ted has had his battles with various issues in town, he tends to see things from a far different position then the majority.
The problem began with the CC matter when he choose not to look at the facts or hear his neighbors concerns, thus he has his opinion that will not change regardless of the facts. You can say what you will about Ted, however you are feeding what he seeks most, your attention. Efforts are better placed focused on the applicant, the issues surrounding CC and the majority of people in Rockaway Twp.
Infrastucture, environment, traffic, taxes THESE ARE THE ISSUES. Please show up on March 11 and bring your neighbors with you, be part of the process.
Thanks for your post which certainly helps add to and broaden the overall picture and knowledge on things for me ....
It's irrelevant to me what he or anyone else seeks most or not from me ... I simply read these message boards to keep myself informed and up-to-date on stuff that's going on around me and the communities I live in/near ... nothing more, nothing less. I really am just a sideline observer, watching (reading) what everyone's saying about this, that 'n the next thing. (well not so sideline recently what with all my postings - yikes!)
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think this message thread originally had anything to do with CC (given it's title and its original posts)?? ... Plus this forum itself is titled 'Rockaway Township Free Speech' - which doesn't limit messages to only CC's issues and efforts ... hence my choice to share my concerns and efforts on an issue here other than CC??
You know Lisa is correct; I’m not the issue here. But did you notice how I was (in Karen’s opinion) Baited yesterday with an onslaught of personal attacks. Then Lisa makes the comment that I like to draw attention to myself.. Hey, I didn’t bring “me” up; Lisa and my attackers did. Oh well, better folk than Lisa have tried to discredit me using the same tactic
Lisa, way to go. Did everyone notice how she drew attention to herself by telling us what she wrote in a letter many months ago? You see Lisa on her last few minutes of her allotted fifteen and she needs the accolades she was getting early on. If you stroke her a little she may raise her hands in air and strut across a stage begging for money, like she did at Copeland
And Geez Lisa could you be anymore cryptic about the point of my letter? For those who care, Lisa is trying to have me bring up the issue of race. That way she can stir things up, make me more of a lightning rod…. and probably beg for more donations. Clever girl, huh?
What I've learned from this message thread is that there clearly is no love lost between a number of other (presumably) Rockaway residents and Ted Doty (and vice versa) ... over issues and situations that have happened in the Rockaway community in the past ...
As much as the issues and events themselves are likely closed and resolved ... the intensity of (mostly negative) emotions that developed from them amongst the participants ... isn't ... (and predictably never will be) ...
At least I have a bit better idea of where it all came from .. and for that I am appreciative.
Ted, you are wrong again. What the %^(% are you talking about the race issue??? YOU JUST BROUGHT THAT UP for no reason but to drag that BS back into the conversation. Let me state VERY CLEARLY - RACE HAS NO ROLE WHATSOEVER in this application. Those who see race as the issue are really stretching to find fault with a towns concern over ENVIRONMENT, INFRASTUCTURE, TRAFFIC AND TAXES.
Ted, I have tried to be respectful to you however it is clear that YOU are not deserving of this respect.
To those who have been stating their opinions about Ted... go for it.
