Who is TODDAVID

Seriously does anyone have any clues on this guy. How can
one guy have this much say and power over speech? I have emailed nj.com and they just gave me a form letter in return. I love the fact I can say what I want here. Why is someone letting Todd get away with this? Does anyone know if he ever gave any clue to where the store was or who he knows? I want to be the first in line at his store to get a soda and shake it up and spray his face. Just my 2cents Dam I feel better already PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE ME HIS NAME!!!! I will PAY for information that leads to his capture.

Have we all forgotten that Ireland has hired a professional "Media Consultant" (besides an army of Lawyers) as part of his team.  What do you think that means in todays world??  If it were me, I would use someone who not only knows how to manipulate the printed media, but someone who knows how to do some serious hacking, etc.  Just one possible supposition worth consideration.

Who agrees with CM's "one possible supposition" .. I'll suggest that not only are TD's postings 'fishbait' ... they're also great (and free) 'pr' (public relations) in that they keep people tuning in to see what the latest round of posts/replies are there to read... who's saying what to whom, who's rising to the bait, etc etc etc...

I must say, though, that it's become repetitive recently with the same old back-and-forth issues and emotions....

If it is a "Wag the Dog" that's been going on, though ... I'd say the creator(s) (conspirator's) will probably consider what they've done as a successful mission accomplished.

My , for what it's worth.

The annoying part is the magical power they seem to have over the nj.com moderators and can delete posts at whim.

I had responded to todd's post "so no legal reasons then" with "the reasons we've been discussing are legal ones."

Deleted and I'm banned again for the...I can't even count the number of times.

Stop feeding the troll

I posted that a long time ago (no feeding the trolls).

Maybe it's time to stop feeding the troll again.

Since half the posts there are his anyone, if we don't respond, he'll have to go back to making up characters to high-five himself.

Can we all agree - let's give it a week and NOBODY respond to "he who shall not be named"???

RE: Who is TODDAVID

There really is no way to tell who really is doing the deleting of posts over in that other location ... no way to tell, either, what rationale is being used to determine and decide who and what gets deleted either ..

Several years ago ... mid-90's ... pre internet (as it is now) ... I was a volunteer 'sysop' for a group of student forums on Compuserve. I had the 'power' to delete ... I also had guidelines to use to determine what was to be deleted, etc. These guidelines/rules were given to me by the owner of the student forums. Often there was some rhyme and reason for deletions (eg. profanity, soliciting, etc etc), but at the same time ... messages were deleted for no obvious or apparent reason to the poster. The decision to delete a post was ultimately and entirely in the hands of the messageboard/forum owner ... when a forum visitor/participant was becoming a detriment to the success of the forum (as determined and defined solely by the forum owner) .. their messages were deleted and they would be banned from visiting the forum. At the time, this was done to secure the safety of the younger visitors to the forum (we catered to preschoolers up to and including college and adult students). Honestly, in my belief, it ultimately resulted in the demise of the forums (along with the introduction of the internet as we know it to be today, too) since it was too restrictive, too arbitrary, etc etc. People just stopped visiting those forums and those who did, caught up with what was going on and learned where everyone else ended up online.

Bottom line of it all is .... while it IS frustrating to be banned and to have postings deleted for no apparent reasonings, etc ... the quickest and easiest resolution to it all is, in my personal experience and opinion .... discontinue 'liaising' totally with the one who brings much angst to you and others (i.e. TD) ... stop fueling that messageboard's need/desire to delete and ban for no apparent rhyme nor reason (to anyone else but themselves) ... (finding out WHY they do it and WHAT rationale is used to decide how it's done .... does not and will not change anything)

(metaphor) --- Stop adding fuel to the fire so that the fire WILL fizzle and go out.

Hoping to relieve some of the frustration and angst of the unknown,

Lurker

Lurker, I understand what you're saying--

But how do we just let this clown go on and sculpt the perception as he sees fit?

It's really not right.

NJ.Com is a public forum and we have perfectly legitimate posts deleted all the time.

It's wrong.

Of course it is wrong, but a good hacker can do whatever he or she wants to do with a bbs.  One just has to get into the .exe and define oneself as a super-user or a moderator and that's it.  That person then controls the board or forum. The owner or operator of the bbs or forum may not even know it is being done and/or can not stop it.  There may be some very strong motives behind this particular activity.  There are big bucks at stake associated with this CC business.

Right or Wrong ..

... I've no idea who's doing what or why or how ... it would be interesting, though, to know whether the nj.com forums are individually owned, or sub-contracted .. much the same as the forums were where I used to volunteer ... (don't know if they are now since I no longer volunteer or visit) ...

If they are the way it was for me ... while the membership clearly had to follow general guidelines and rules as set out by the big corporation (in that case it was Compuserve) ... there were also individual forum guidelines and rules that were put in place by the individual forum owners etc.

As I understood it at that time, they had the right to delete, ban etc. as they wished within very broad parameters, of course ... being that it was all privately owned and operated ... if they were too restrictive or stupid in what they were doing, it would only hurt them in the long run in their own pocketbook.

................

Also to consider .... TD might also be a 'plant' put in place (by who knows who!?!) to generate messageboard postings (and from what I can tell -it has been working) ... Statistics play a big part in the success and continuation of forums... In other words, the more the messageboard's being used, the happier everyone will be vs. a stale, unused, never-visited messageboard and forum. Again, speaking from personal experience, this was one thing that was requested from me in my sysop days .... post messages to 'stimulate' and 'generate' messageboard use. We wouldn't post anything to generate dissension and controversy ... but we would post to stimulate debate and thought (being that we were student education forums) ... If I was doing what I used to do ... it would be easy to keep messages going on the rockaway forum ... I'd just keep on stokin' the fires that are already burning (so's to speak).

Right or wrong really is irrelevant ... it's just the way it is ... and what's right or wrong to one person .... might not be for someone else ....

Right? Wrong?
