Weekday Traffic

Hi all.
I am no traffic genius, so some of this is confusing to me.
I have pasted a previous post about the weeday traffic.
What I am curious about, is I believe that the children going to this school will be dropped off by parents. This means it 2 way traffic on the road.
Then they pick up the kids-
My point is, that if there is 350 cars carrying a total of 500 children, you'll have the 350 coming to the school, then leaving the school to go to work...same thing after school, this is at commuter times.
Traffic backs up to Sanders road leading to RT. 80 as it is, during the morning commute-I am not sure...but I think you need to add another 350 cars to that equation.

(snip)>>>>WEEKDAY TRAFFIC NUMBERS

Agilent Corp. AM traffic per hour: 410 cars (350 in, 60 out)

Christ Church AM traffic per hour: 506 cars (315 in, 191 out)

Agilent Corp. PM traffic per hour: 410 cars ( 40 in, 370 out)

Christ Church PM traffic per hour: 199 cars ( 57 in, 142 out)

These numbers show that the school and administrative functions at Christ Church will create on average LESS traffic than a corporation that would occupy the site.>>> (end snip)

The real traffic issue occurs on Sundays when CC grows its congregation to numbers ranging from 6000 to 16000 (see my previous posts  on this topic).  Ireland made it clear at the meeting that he WILL NOT cap his membership at any number.  I took it all the  way up to 25,000 when I was questioning him, and he refused to cap at even that number.  Furthermore, Ireland has made it clear that he will not pay for the required road improvements to alleviate  the traffic problems that his business will create.  That will all be on us, folks.

When considering weekday traffic dont forget all the staff that is reqd to support a 500 student school. Custodians, teachers, administration, aids, medical personnel, etc etc.

The traffic issues are serious concerns to many.  I would like to offer tons of information here, however it is not in OUR best interest to post specific items that our professionals have uncovered during their analysis.  I will simply say you all have great point, keep them coming and our expert will be available to the planning board on the appropriate day to discuss this matter.

We are all involved in this fight to preserve our town.  Sometimes when in the middle of a fight it is best to hold your data close and present it ONLY at the proper time and in the proper forum.

I am sure you all can appreciate this fact.  Due to this fact and others we continue to remind you all how important it is for each and every resident to participate in the planning board meetings.  See you all on March 11, 2004.

Thanks again for your support!
Lisa
