Those who left early missed the best part of the evening! Councilmen "Doc" Gellman really let those SOB's have it! The normally quite and soft spoken doctor made it clear that he was in shock over the 'letter' submitted by the Beckett Fund and how they are attempting to bully the entire council.
Our Council did the right thing last night - they did what was right for Rockaway Twp. They did not step down to bullies and I too am very proud of them.
Thank you council for doing the right thing for our environment and our residents!

The Christ Church Plan for the redevelopment of 140 Green Pond Rd is just too big for the area.
It sounds as though things went well. Unfortunately I couldnt make the meeting. Does anyone know why 2 council members abstained from voting? And one didnt show up for one of the most important votes in the township. I hope it was a good reason.
The two who abstained were Mr. DiMaria who is on the planning board and Mr. Quinn who is an alternate to the planning board. They both abstained because of their involvement with the planning board.
In my opinion, he wants the mega-complex his way, no comprimise, right now...I believe he is going to push his stake all in and hope for a sympathetic judge. A big gamble that will take years, but it is the fastest way to build his mega-dream without moving on to an appropriate site. The next planning board meeting could very well be the last...what a relief that will be...
There was something else that came up about a week ago in the papers wherein one of the members of the town council stated that since churches are not specifically stipulated as conditional uses, basically they are not permitted uses, and this statement was referring to the way the zoning laws in town had been even before the changes.
What is confusing about that is that it would seem that cc should have been required to go before the Board of Adjustment if indeed that was the case. Does anyone know anything about this? Can anyone explain that?
Good job officials... I like the fact that you stood up to the ATTEMPED bullying by the money hungry lawyers and PR firms, who are the ones who will benefit from this.
Irelands name will be mud when all this comes out...he'll end up looking like his cohorts Billy Graham and the rest of the money suckers.
As this goes to court, we'll still be taking in the property tax, and Ireland PR bills and lawyers, and consultant fees will continue to build.
To the 3 stooges that were at the meeting last night, all I can say is "see you in court, hacks". Too bad these guys can't find a way to make an honest living.
Funny how Jennings mentioned the murmuring in the audience:"There were murmurs in the audience when he implored the council to "cease its campaign to keep Christ Church out of Rockaway Township."" And then metions this:"Though many in attendance were church opponents and had urged the ordinance's adoption, there was no cheering."

Dont know Rat. I hope not. I would like to see it come to some end soon. I will keep my fingers crossed that at the next meeting they stand up and announce that they are withdrawing their application and going elsewhere. IF I ever hear that, it will be party time (at Rat's house).
