Request to moderator

Karen,

The "Is this Christianity?" thread has broken down to a personal argument with a bunch of name calling...I'll leave out my personal opinions of the matter (although I am truly disgusted by the attacks).

Since the title of this board is the "Sorry no Instigators" Board - and what we are seeing is a bunch of immature personal attacks (instigating more personal attacks), I ask you, in the name of the good citizens of Rockaway Township to remove the thread and post a general warning that you'll block accounts if these people continue to fight in public.

(On a side note - hey guys - you want to fight, take it to email...The rest of us don't want to read your sanctimonious garbage - and yes, especially you Craig).

This is just my humble opinion....I'll leave a poll here for others to voice theirs.

Honestly, my suggestion to the moderator is to close this messageboard and forum completely for once and for all.

It serves no purpose whatsoever and does not live up to its title. It never did.

My .02,

I've found this message board to be informative regarding the CC proposal which is a subject that causes me a good bit of concern.  I agree that when certain individuals go off on a discussion of "religion today" I do find it counterproductive and at best, a distraction.  I'm all for eliminating this sort of thread but do hope that the board will continue.  Thanks for making this venue available to those of us who would like to be as informed as possible and, when appropriate, discuss valid issues and news concerning the application.

The thread's closed. And I have a voice mail from the Record.

I'm leaving the thread up to remind me how annoying it is...

Thanks Rational - like I don't have enough to do without all this pot-stirring.

Can you please remember we're all on the same side?

And if you feel this strongly about the issue--assuming it's not just to be confrontational--maybe you could get involved.

Like at least go to the planning board meetings.

Haha, holy mackerel, the Daily Record call WAS about my band. Truly bizarre.

False Jennings alarm. Whew!

(Craig, you're still on my fecal roster.)

Karen,

And RT had no cupability for that situation?  Guess you are on my fecal matter list too!  I guess when Christians say to Jews that "they are not getting anyone into Heaven as far as they can see", those Jews should just crawl up in a little itsy bitsy teeny weeny ball and shut up, right?  In other words, they should know their place.

Got it.

Oh no, you're not gonna drag me into a debate on religion. You should know better, silly!

Well since everyone else is weighing in, I will do the same. Its really sad when two people, basically on the same side, decide to wage a personal war against each other. It accomplishes nothing other than to degrade the cause. I would hate to see this forum become "over moderated" like some others, so I encourage everyone to take a step back and think before posting. I know its a tough thing to do sometimes. If you have to ignore someone, fine, or just agree to disagree and let it go, even better. I dont know of anyone, who welcomes or accepts extremeism in any form, whether it be religious or otherwise, so I think everyone needs to calm down and remember what we are here for. Please dont force Karen to take extreme measures and reduce the value of this forum.

Karen,

Thanks for closing the thread - and thanks for not taking the bait to re-open the debate here.

People are entitled to their personal thoughts as to the worthiness or lack thereof of the religious beliefs of others, however, stating these thoughts in a public forum dedicated to Rockaway Township, no matter how true the statements might or might not be, will only serve to inflame others, and some of those others, as we have seen in the past, will be public relations professionals who are being paid good money to make the citizens of our township look not only bad, but if possible, evil and filled with hatred.  These statements / attacks on the beliefs of others (no matter how warped these beliefs might or might not be) will NOT help in a planning board battle and they will NOT help in a future court case.  They will in fact serve no purpose to our township and will cause you another great big headache receiving non-band related calls from the press (again).

I would suggest (again, IMHO), that you ban religion in general as a topic for this forum.  This forum should be about Rockaway Township, it's citizens, it's waterways, it's roadways, it's emergency services, the mall, local weather, schools, etc., and not about bashing other peoples' belief systems.  There's plenty of other places to discuss the merits / demerits of other peoples' religions - including at the nj.com faith forum at http://www.nj.com/forums/faith - where posts are NOT routinely deleted and where making an attack on another faith - no matter how much one believes the other faith is mistaken / wrong / or even evil, will not be mis-represented by the Daily Record or Star Ledger as a statement of intolerance representing the views of all citizens of Rockaway Township.

Thanks you again for the hard work and dedication to keeping this a forum where we can sensibly discuss local matters.
