Hi,

Just a quick note.  I stopped by town hall tonight and got a quick look at some of the 'new' information submitted by the applicant.  I was only able to scan a few document but I can tell you that there are more games going on.  1 that is very clear is the addition of a 15 foot by 180 foot area next to the south section of the building.  It is done in "paver stones", it is clearly there to address problems relating to fire safety.  The question is why paver stones and not pavement? It appears the answer is  - because if they pave the would add impervious coverage and you guessed it, that would kill the highlands exemption.  There are some other items that I need to research a little more - I will fill you in when I know more.

If that's what they think, then they better re-read the Highlands Law. Here is the text of what constitutes an impervious surface.

"Impervious surface" means any structure, surface, or improvement
that reduces or prevents absorption of stormwater into land, and includes
porous paving, paver blocks, gravel, crushed stone, decks, patios,
elevated structures, and other similar structures, surfaces, or
improvements;"

NOTE: PAVER BLOCKS !

No, you don't get it Chuck. They are not "ground cover" paver blocks, they are "under air" paver blocks, so they don't count.

Oh, silly me. I got them confused, just like I confused the fact that the under building parking lot isnt an underground parking lot even though every part of it except for one edge is under the ground level.

Actually, I have heard that there is now a group of biblical scholars researching the existence of 'religiously significant' paver blocks (Brother Maynard - fetch the holy paver block of Antioch).  In Druid times, paver blocks were frequently used to help align the multiple tower stones of a structure with the heavens.

Note to all Whiners -> The above statement was meant as humor.  It was not meant as an insult to anyone's religion.  The reference to Brother Maynard...well - if you don't have a sense of humor, you'll have to figure that one out on your own).
