Christ Church's recent press has made them seem quite desperate. First wasting their members money with a full page ad with facts and myths where the facts were the myths followed by a press conference to which the public was not invited. The ultimate desperate move was calling the press like a kindergarden kid to complain about a misguided soul's attempt at humor. The last I checked there was a thing called freedom of speech guaranteed by the constitution and I don't think the Rev. or his PR people have rewritten it.
The Rev. and his amatuerish PR people only show a side of themselves not befitting professionals. In attempting to demonize their opposition they only reinforce the view of most of Rockaway Twp. that this project is too big and those representing CC are speaking with forked tongue. If they were secure in their view that the project will not do harm to the environment, traffic etc. there would be no need for these tactics.
What will happen in the future if this project goes forward when the time comes to enlarge "Ire Land" and the misinformation starts flowing again?
The planning board not the press is the proper forum for debate on this issue. Public opinion, although not the deciding factor on this issue, will not be swayed by this type of rhetoric. To steal a phrase from Emeril, "Kick it up a notch" Rev.
