Ireland must be getting behind in his PR firm payments. I wonder why? I notice that the newspapers no longer refer to the Megachurch as having 5,000 members; Neighbor News refers to its numbers as greater than 5,000. By my estimates, its numbers are about 6,300 right now, so he certainly can afford his PR bills. I know that he will not give out growth numbers, but has anyone asked him what his present circus consists of at this point in time?
behind in his payments?.... silly... you are too smart for such conjecture!
6300 people? ... interesting thought/point... how did you figure that number ?
Circus?... this is why people think it's a race/religion thing. You hurt your arguments when you talk like that.. it is however a legitimate question... you could probably get the attendace figures from the church or the church bulliten.
he won't give out growth numbers... was the wrong question... people always accuse churches of being "big" businesses, so they don't talk in "growth numbers"... they talk in terms of vision, potential & "facilities able to accomodate per weekend" (sounds much more spiritual)... In my opinion (note I said opinion), they'll be looking to (or need to) at least triple their membership (bare minimum)
Yeah, of course I know that he is not behind in his payments to the PR firm! I was being fecicious.
As for his numbers, 1 year ago he reported at a meeting that he had a membership of 5,000. 10 years prior, he reported that he had a membership of 500. So, I got out the old calculator and did Net Future Value and solved for average annualized percentage growth over that interval. That number comes out to 26 %. It has now been a year since that reference point. So, 1.26 x 5000 = 6,300. Please note that the newspapers simply state now that his membership is greater than 5,000.
I call it a circus because I think that it is a circus. Have you ever seen him on TV?? Pretty amazing - - - the guy is totally Manic. I am not fond of living in a town hosting a circus. It may not sound pretty petty, but it is the basic truth about the situation as far as I am concerned.
By my numbers, he can only support his investment of 31 Megs into that property with between 15,000 and 25,000 members. Clearly, it can not be supported by 6300 members, especially since they are mostly from the inner city. The town should hire a forensics accountant to nail some of this stuff down - - - a very important exercise in my opinion. We are never going to the truth about this out of Ireland.
The point here is that Rockaway Twp has taken action against the DEP. The DEP will have to deal with this matter in a very public forum. The DEP must PROTECT the environment. The Daily Record has turned a corner, they now see what we have been saying for over a year - the land and the rights of the residents of Rockaway Twp have as many rights as a house of worship no more no less. We are EQUAL. If all is equal the land must come first as we only have one earth on which to live and pray -however we wish.

The Christ Church Plan for the redevelopment of 140 Green Pond Rd is just too big for the area.
Funny. I know of only one other person who went out of their way to do projected calculations of future membership. And that was...hmmm...oh yeah; The person you're "rooming" with!
i knew you were only kidding...my point was your good points are blurred by some of the other stuff you say... you are 100% correct about one thing for sure... their congregation is too small to carry that financial load (unless they have people who give 7 figures)...one would think they need to at least double or triple in size or build a very large media business to do all they plan.
also does anybody know about chemicals on the property?... i used to deliver large hazardous drum deliveries there (late 80's & early 90's) & they were very "tense" when these deliveries came in (special guy had to come as well).. i was never sure if they were being environmentally responsible or had there been "problems"
There have been significant contamination problems on that site. I posted a thread with some information pertaining to this topic. Please refer to the same for some details. Further research will need to be done, but it is my understanding that there is significant contamination below the foundation and floor of the southern portion of the existing structure. Chemical processing used to be performed in that area and the chemicals were pretty nasty complex hydrocarbons (trichlorethelyne, etc).
As for the numbers, I see a huge problem here. All ireland has to do is claim that he is building for a membership of 5,000. Yet we all know that it is more like 20,000. That difference in infrastructure IMPACT is huge, yet it will never come to light in the public discourse about this matter because the man simply refuses to admit to any possible growth. As a matter of fact, he has implied at one of the meetings that he will actually loose some membership. As you can see, he has not problems lying. I guess he just gives himself redemption for these indiscressions against his fellow man.
ps - I know that my spelling sucks. I am just a kid and still going to college, so I have an excuse. I do not use a spell checker or dictionary. So, focus on the content of my posts and not the spelling. Leave my spelling problems for my professors.
