Traffic Light vs. Street Widening

It seems that CC would have to pay for the traffic light required to handle the additional traffic if they are successful in their attempt to locate here.  I assume that the principle in this is that since they are the cause of the additional traffic, they are responsible for controlling it.

By that same logic, wouldn't they be required to finance the widening of Green Pond Road if that were determined to be necessary (assuming the it could be widened given the wetlands in along the eastern side)?  Interesting question.  Any thoughts on this?

I suspect that their argument will be that the road, coupled with a traffic light that they will pay for, is all that is needed to handle their membership of 5,000.  What we all know is that he is building a church for more like 20,000 people but he will not admit it.  Have you not noticed that he has no problem lying?  Therefore, all he has to say is that his membership is what it is right now and nothing more.  Remember, he has no growth projections (very conveniently).  The only point at which the road will actually need to be widened is when his membership grows beyond the 5,000 number.  That will happen after our township approves his application (which it will do in about a year).  Thereafter, when he grows inspite of himself, he will just say to the town, OMG - - - look at how I have grown.  I think it is time for you folks to widen my access road so that my parishoners do not have to spend so much time in traffic and spend more time worshiping me.  And the county and township will have to provide him with those accomodations.

The taxpayers of RT and Morris County will be his slaves.

Also dont forget their position stated at the last meeting, being such a supportive, community oriented organization. When it was mentioned that the county strongly suggested a right turning lane going North on GP Rd. and also that the town ordinance requires trees to be planted along the road frontage, their answer was that they discovered that the town actually has an old railroad easement between the property and the road, so therefore the town actually owns the frontage and they dont feel it would be their responsibility to do those things since they dont actually have any frontage.

Also note that under the Highlands law, an existing church wanting to expand is specifically exempt from the bill. So once they are in, there's no stopping them.

Not so fast.....we always have this in our back pocket. It will take a couple more years to address all the environmental impacts that are being proposed. Let's enjoy Agilents tax money in the meantime.

Chuck,

Yup, you are right - - - that is what I have been trying to tell everyone.  Once they are in, they are completely exempt from the highlands bill (not that it matters one bit, anyway)!  He can build another 500,000 Square Feet onto his existing 280,000 squre foot monstrosity and we will have to provide "The Boss" with his infrastructure.  And, given the present state of affairs, he will most definitely get in, no doubt about it.  As you know, there is only one REAL option to prevent it.

By the time he finishes implementing all of his plans and in about 5 to 10 years we will all be saying "Mayor Ireland."  Can you say it? Go ahead and give it a try.  Get used to it.  There are going to be about 20,000 of them against 24,000 of us.  His plans are much grander than you can possibly imagine.

Per the Highlands bill  only those houses of worship that were CURRENTLY exsisting on the date the HIghlands Bill was signed August 10, 2004 will be exempt.

Just wanted to clear that up.

As I have pointed out, the Highlands bill is completely meaningless when it comes to the consideration of minority owned Megachurches anyway!  So, what is your point regarding that caveat?
