And So It Begins...

I wonder if they'll be going door to door.

Here's the phrase that struck me: "...sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to irreligious people..."

Good grief, what is this thing among us? Are we really the "great unsaved" to them? Are we their new crusade?

Lord have mercy...

Church raising more $ for Morris campus
BY ROB JENNINGS

ROCKAWAY TWP. -- Christ Church is launching a second fundraising drive to help pay for its recently approved mega-church on Green Pond Road.

Pastor David Ireland announced the three-year campaign -- called, "Imagine More ... It's Time!"-- on Christ Church's Internet site.

"The future place of our worship and church gatherings is secured," Ireland wrote. "Now, the opportunity for building our new sanctuary is before us."

Church supporters were invited to make a donation or "automatic monthly gift" via the Internet site. A future announcement about the church's "capital stewardship campaign team" was promised.

A target fundraising goal was not disclosed.

In 2003, the 5,000-member church unveiled a 3-year, $14 million campaign -- dubbed "Touching Tomorrow Today"-- aimed at paying for the mega-church.

At a Sunday service in Feb. 2005, Ireland encouraged worshippers on to donate anywhere from $25 to $1,000 per week above their regular tithe during the final 12 months of the campaign.

"Throughout the ages local churches that were passionate about fulfilling The Great Commission -- sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to irreligious people -- have always faced growth opportunities. Christ Church is no different," Ireland wrote on the Internet site in describing the new campaign.

On Feb. 5, the planning board granted final approval of Christ Church's building plan, which is highlighted by a 2,513-seat sanctuary and K-5 school. Three days later, the church dropped its federal lawsuit accusing the town of stalling and trying to undermine its building plan.

Ireland, on the church Internet site, described the planning board process as "arduous and at times even contentious."

Christ Church still awaits a state Department of Environmental Protection review of its Highlands law exemption and it is unclear when building will begin. It is holding Sunday services at a 900-seat cathedral in Montclair.

Christ Church acquired the 107-acre, former Agilent Technologies site in 2005 for $10.25 million.

Ireland wrote that the campaign's title --"Imagine More ... It's Time"-- was derived from the Apostle Paul's words to the Ephesian Church.

"This campaign's focus is not about money! Our focus is on imagining more Christ-centered ministry for your children and your family, in order for you to better impact your community and enrich your spiritual life," Ireland wrote.

So I went on the CC website to see the latest attempt to fund this mega-nightmare. There are some rather strong statment made by Ireland in his address to the readers - not all of which can be backed up with fact and one must wonder if these statements are factual or not... there is no DEP approval thus nothing is "secured" and I would love to see someone get into the books of CC to see just where all the money they have raised has gone so far and how much more is needed to support this folly:

Imagine More Campaign Central

A Word from the Senior Pastor...

Throughout the ages local churches that were passionate about fulfillng The Great Commission - sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to irreligious people - have always faced growth opportunities. Christ Church is no different!

Our spiritual and numerical growth resulted in our purchasing a 107-acre parcel of land that has three large buildings and over 1,100 parking spaces in Rockaway, New Jersey. We then pursued the necessary approval to use the property as a church campus. This process became arduous and at times even contentious. But our faith in the Lord and a tenacious perserverance for the manifestation of His will resulted in our gaining the Site Plan approval from the Planning Board of Rockaway in October 2006. This means that the future place of our worship and church gatherings is secured.

Now, the opportunity for building our new sanctuary is before us. It is with great excitement that I announce our new three-year campaign, Imagine More...It's Time! This title captures Paul's words to the Ephesian Church "...immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine" (3:20 NIV). This campaign's focus is NOT about money! Our focus is on imagining more Christ-centered ministry for your children and your family, in order for you to better impact your community and enrich your spiritual life.

Further... just for a laugh read this - it is about Davids new book... dont you think he should perfect his spelling first...

Is there even such a word as "irreligious" ? I can be ireverant to his ill-conceived, illegitimate guise of being a church, but I'm not sure I can be "irreligious". Non-religious maybe especially when it comes to morons like him.

You have to laugh at his tag-line "Imagine more.... It's time"

"Operation Shake Down" would be more-fitting.

The unfortunate thing is he is building an image of heaven on earth to his followers and they are buying into it.

If any CC parishoners are reading this forum - please pass this along to other - do yourselves a favor - ask questions - where has all the money gone? - he has lied to Rockaway Township and he will lie to you - In the unlikely event Irelands dream sees the light of day at 140 GPR, it will be 5 years before a single gospel is sung there. Be careful with your hard earned money. Do not fall prey to wolves in sheeps clothing. Find yourselves a good bible based church that is not about the money. Yes "Imagine more" more money in CC's leaders pockets. Yes "It's time" time to wake up and look at what is really going on.

"1 : neglectful of religion : lacking religious emotions, doctrines, or practices so irreligious that they exploit popular religion for professional purposes (and big $$$$) -- G. B. Shaw

2 : indicating lack of religion"

Christ Church: If 2nd fundraiser fails, Montclair site sale a possibility

ROCKAWAY TWP. -- Officials of Christ Church said they will consider selling its historic cathedral in Montclair if a second fundraising drive fails to raise enough money to pay for its recently approved mega-church on Green Pond Road.

The 5,000-member church said on its Web site that its intent "is to create a satellite church in Montclair using the cathedral," unless additional funding is required to build the Rockaway Township campus.

"We will keep the cathedral if it is financially viable,"Christ Church's chief operating officer, Rupert A. Hayles Jr., said Tuesday.

Built in 1911, the Montclair cathedral has room for 850 people and will continue hosting Sunday services at least until the 2,513-seat sanctuary is ready in Rockaway Township.

The start of construction for Christ Church's sanctuary, private K-5 school and other facilities has not been scheduled.

In 2003, the 5,000-member church unveiled a three-year, $14 million campaign --dubbed "Touching Tomorrow Today"-- aimed at paying for the mega-church. Christ Ch-urch acquired the 107-acre, former Agilent Technologies site in 2005 for $10.25 million.

Pastor the Rev. David Ireland announced a new, three-year fundraising campaign called, "Imagine More ... It's Time!" after the planning board granted final approval Feb. 5.

In a statement the church explained that "the 'Touching Tomorrow Today' campaign helped to purchase our campus and gain Site Plan approval, while 'Imagine More ... It's Time!' will help us fund the build-out of the property."

A fundraising goal was not specified.

And I thought that the substantitive element of a "Church" was its congregation of people, not a bunch of bricks and mortar. It would seem that ireland has much more loyalty to a pile of bricks than he has for his people, else he would provide a sanctuary for them on their home turf.

Irelands prayer:

Gimmme, gimme, gimme more,

Just like you folks did many times before

For this I hope and pray,

So that I have lots more money with which to play,

Amen!

That is because the good people of Rockaway Township (and the surrounding area) have not sent a clear signal to the management of that rag that they disaprove of their editorital position pertaining to cc. I wonder sometimes if we are the only people in town who have revoked our subscription, consequently.

But, that is how you send them a message. Hit 'em where it hurts - - - the pocketbook.

There were folks out in the borough going from door to door dressed in formal suits with bibles in hand. At first I thought they were Jehovah's Witnesses, but...I wonder if indeed it has begun.

And what was going on at 140 GPR today that required a traffic cop? Anyone?

I had spoken with a friend today and learned that CC had a fundraising event on Saturday and hired the police to help with the traffic. They claimed they were expecting 500 cars, only about half showed up.

Have a nice day!
