I have received a phone call that there is an article in today’s paper. I received a call yesterday from our attorney Mike Edleson about this also. Yesterday Mike was called by Rob Jennings and asked to comment on the following (to paraphrase) Rev. Ireland says that there is a difference between him and the others involved in this matter "his profession requires him to tell the truth" - Jennings asked did Mike have any comment on that - Mike said NO.
In today’s paper it implies that Voices had no comment. This is not accurate. Voices of Rockaway Twp were never called. Mike Edelson is our attorney not our press sec. nor PR man. Mr. Jennings has our numbers and has chosen not to call us.
Last night I placed a call to the management of the daily record and hope to speak to them today. This is not a "story" to us this is our home, our futures and our environment; "OUR" newspaper should represent the facts CLEARLY and in an unbiased manner.
Oh and for the record (and the DAILY RECORD TOO) - The members of the Voices of Rockaway Twp are bound by telling the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. No man or woman is above any other when it comes to telling the truth. It is not merely our occupations that demand this attribute it is our personal ethics and morals. Shame on you Rev. Ireland for insinuating that anything less then the truth has been told. Rev. Ireland should stop spreading rumors and present facts and answer the questions of the residents of Rockaway Twp fully and completely.
Sincerely,
Lisa Salberg

The Christ Church Plan for the redevelopment of 140 Green Pond Rd is just too big for the area.
First: Rev. Ireland says that there is a difference between him and the others involved in this matter "his profession requires him to tell the truth". This is true, but that doesn't mean it always happens. Shall I bring up some of the Catholic priests and their vow of celibacy? Therefore, professional ethics are not always adhered to no matter what religion.
Second: I had to laugh when Ireland stated "The mystique of the large church will go away. A large church is the same as a small church. There's just more people there". He doesn't get it. We are not against a church! Large = damage to the environment and infrastructure. More people = traffic, emergency services problems and damage to the environment. No where are we saying a church will cause these conditions. A LARGE church yes, therefore it's not the same as a small church.
Third:Snowflake read your own paper! (he also puts his two sense column in the paper today). "It would be naive to think race is not an issue, at least in judging from some Internet postings." Rockaway Township should not be judged by what one person posts on the internet. Also, citizens in E. Hanover and Lk. Hopatcong are fighting large developments. There is no black or white in these matters. Just large development plans that will ruin their towns. Why can't Snowflake understand the same is true in RT? Why make it something more than it is?
That makes good business sense. Support the people who don't buy the paper and slander those that do. I for one have cancelled my subscription to the Daily Rag as I hope all those in RT will do. Star Ledger is much better, and believe it or not, has more Morris County news than the Rag.
It appears the "good" Rev. equates truth with his creation of a church for his self proclaimed ministry. I would hope that truth would have been part of his life prior to that and continue if he choses another occupation.
It would be refreshing if our local press would be more truthful. Maybe they should adopt the Rev.'s logic and hire members of the clergy to do their reporting.
It looks like the DR and the Rev are looking to change the discussion from their noncompliant revised plans to issues of race and religion. Let's hope the application is judged on its merits and not on fear of the race or religion card. Any reasonable and intelligent individual should be able to see clearly what is going on with this. The application currently does not conform with the Highlands Law and from a zoning perspective would be disasterous for RT. These are the real problems with the megachurch and any attempt to divert the discussion from those problems should be viewed as irrelevant.
Man..........The nerve, the audacity of this guy to think he is now morally superior to us "peons".
Reverend Ireland...I know you, or your followers read this board. That collar (only worn to public meetings, cough) does not make you somehow better. Honesty, morality, faith and Love come from the mind and heart; Not from a job description. We are all equal in G-D's eyes. Or did you forget that.
So many times now I have questioned your faith and intentions. I have heard you lie, and in the same breath accuse an entire town of lieing. I have heard you accuse racism while instilling racism yourself. I have seen you sit idly by as your followers openly incite, accuse, and instigate. Without a single word of asking for calm.
I see you hide behind allegations of race and religion instead of facing the facts of environment, impact and taxes.
This from a man calling himself a Reverend???
Ireland: Do me this favor. Take your quote you gave the yellow journalist Jennings, stand in front of a mirror, look deep into your own eyes and recite it. If you do not see the arrogance, sin, and pompous nature of it, I ask you to relinquish your title of Reverend. Because you have NO CLUE to what the Lord teaches us. And it's not how big your sanctuary is either.
Well at least Jennings talked to one "knowledgeable source". LOL. He never asked me about the VORT attorney, nor did he mention the Rev's comment to me or he would have had a real good quote to publish. BTW, has anyone been able to find an online link to todays articles? I cant. Seems odd that the DR's front page headline story isnt online to be linked to.
In today's article, mr. ireland says that the parking will not go underground (in today's article - "A total of 272 spaces would be built under the main building, but not underground, since the existing structure is 10 feet above ground).
I've seen a number of posts claiming that the parking WILL be underground.
Doesn't it make you wonder at all about the coincidence the pattern we had on Nj.con is now repeated in the newspapers????
It had been oh so quiet this summer, yet just a little while before the next meeting the crap pot is once agian being stirred with twists insuations and outright lies???
Anyone else see a connection?
I am looking forward to seeing this whole plot exposed in the future.
Next we'll see McGreevy on Irelands side saying we're against gay folks since we don't have an over paid advisor/lover in town.
Mark - There is absolutely NO mystery here. Ireland Inc. has a PR firm that is doing the job that it has been paid to do. Why the shock? RT does not have such a firm and so we get all the balanced coverage that we deserve. That means that we get NADDA. That is how the system works. So, who are the idiots - - - Ireland and company or those of us who live in Rockaway township?
