This is a pretty wacky idea, but I have a tendency to think out of the box. That leads me to go to places where no others have traveled quite often, but also, once in a while, it provides me with unique solutions to problems.
What if RT was to re-incorporate as a "Church" instead of as a "Township"? All of us who live here would be members and the Mayor would be our Minister. Our laws would be our religious "Dogma" and our zoning laws our "Liturgy."
Keeping this theoretical idea open for consideration in your mind for a moment or two, would that not give the new "Rockaway Church" the same legal standing under RLUIPA as it provides for Christ Cult (I am so very sorry, - - - I meant Christ Church)? Would that not change the playing field to a more level one? In other words, Christ Church would be attempting to intefere with our practice of our religion which is, in part, our Liturgy which is our zoning laws? It would open the question in a Federal venue "does the practice of one religion have the right to step on the rights of the practice of another religion?"
Just thought I would throw that one out there. I believe that EVERYTHING is worth considering given the situation and its IMPACT on all of us.
Are there any Legal Beagles out there who would be willing to comment about this approach? What do you think? Or is it just a wacko idea and we here in Rockaway Township must heed to the so called rights of this so called "Christ Church" legal fiction that Ireland has created?
I would gladly convert as I am so sick of monsterRT and all his other names. After reading his posts, your ideal sounds quite sane. We would probably get national attention if we could pull it off, then tED would be even more angry at us. And we would open the fields and the fitness center to everyone but tED. And we'd even let the prisoners in. But not tED. I think even CC is ashamed of his defense of their church.
