Corzine has furloughed 35,000 "non-essential workers" so that he can coerce his government to raise the sales tax from 6 to 7 percent. Didn't he just identify the proper solution to the problem at hand? If 35,000 of them are "non-essential", why not just fire them? The rest of our state workers only work a small fraction of the time for which they are paid, so reduce their salaries appropriately.
