I know Ted is an instigator, but I am wondering about the statements that were made that say Ted is using his disability as a defense. How is he doing this? If he were not disabled, would those he angers react any differently toward him? What would/could be done to him if he were not disabled?
I think it is the old, "you wouldn't hit a guy with glasses" defense. I believe Mr. Doty thinks because of his unfortunate disability his words and actions are above reprecussion.
I mean how can you dislike a guy in a wheel chair?

If he were not disabled, he would have gotten exactly the same response.
That's why it's SO OUTRAGEOUS that scott lashed out at him--you would do that with someone "normal".
But you'd never yell at a guy in a wheelchair, right?
My point is, if he were NOT in a wheelchair, Ted's behavior would most certainly have to change, because not everyone is as tolerant and patient as my husband.
Maybe he should change his behavior anyway--wouldn't it be nice to have the Record quote friends (plural) who say, "Ted's a good guy and means well" rather than "He's not particularly concerned with the individual sensitivities. He puts himself in the position of taking a very critical look at what goes on in the township".
Even his "friend" knows he's a cranky s.o.b. that can't get along with anyone.
Ok, lets see how much they can twist my letter to the editor or if they have the balls to print it.
My rebuttal to the editor of the daily record:
The first thing I want to point out is that as you will notice, in the Ted Doty article on Monday, my quote ended before …FROM THE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS THAT HAS AFFLICTED HIM FOR ABOUT A DECADE.
No part of his disability was even referenced or implied by me, and I challenge anyone to show me where it was. Only an idiot would assume that I was referring to his NON-LETHAL disease. I made my statement in the heat of passion and I stand by it. Any defender of a person like him is obviously far more bigoted then I. My judgment of Doty is based on his actions, not his appearance or disability. A truly just champion would defend on that basis also. Ted Doty is such a classless individual that the daily record even had trouble finding a “friend” that could say something almost nice about him.
Interestingly, Christ church’s PR firm is the same one that has previously represented Hewlett-Packard (who’s corporate headquarters are in California), the parent company of Agilent, the current owner of the Green Pond Rd. site in question. Curiously, the corporation that transferred Doty from California to Rockaway was left out of the article. A real reporter would have asked that question. Coincidence, I think not.
To Mr. Rothen of Morristown, you hit the nail on the head; the church issue has everything to do with the lack of ability of rural rockaway township to support the massive influx of church commuters. The traffic will effectively cut off 2/3 of the township on Sundays and will create ecological havoc with our fragile environment.
Karen, it looks like they have decided to attack you on their own turf: A Slow, Painful Death . I don't think too many people are reading that forum anyway.
Just used your link to the other board. Was surprised to see that the board in support of the church project in all this time has only 10 posters and 30 topics posted. I guess that says it all.
Yet again lies are posted on the "TRUTH" message board. How sad is it when a man must hide behind lies to attempt to prove a point.
I understand that CC has been to town to discuss the revisions to the plans. It is very interesting to note that the way they intend on dealing with the storm water run off is to have the water run into the Beaver Brook. I think they may wish to do a little more reading before they think they have won this battle. I really wonder how much money they plan on wasting before the see that this is not the place to build there dream.
Oh well it is not my money they are using, but it is the hard earned dollars of many good people.
See you all on Monday night!
Lisa
