In todays SL, in the Morris section, you will find an article called "Warren and Hunterdon boards back Highlands Act revision."
In that article, you will find that State Sen Leonard Lance expects to introduce more modest amentments to the law after the Senate reconvenes.
Quoting the article:
"Lance said he wants to compensate municipalities for lost tax ratables in limited growth areas and exempt them and nonprofit groups from some limits on construction."
The article also says... "My prediction is that the legislation will not be enacted as is," said former congressman Dick Zimmer, hired by the two counties to lobby on behalf of the bill. But he added supporters think "impor tant parts" of the bill might find their way into law.
The Highlands Act has support from NJ to PA to NY and all the way to Washington DC. There may be ammendments made due to farmland matters. But the word from Trenton is that the core of the Highlands legilsation is soild. The Non-profit issue was brought up for currently exsisting structures and entities at the time the original law was passed.
Hope you had a nice Passover and a lovely Easter.
