Hello everyone!

Sorry I have been away awhile.  There have been several other projects I have been working on and I would like to tell you all about them.

Did you know that June is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Awareness month in Rockaway Twp? Well it is and if you wish to learn more about HCM I suggest you stop by www.4hcm.org.

This past weekend the HCMA held the 7th Annual meeting of the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association in Morristown NJ. I was thrilled to have over 200 in attendance with people traveling from as far away as England to the east and Texas to the west! Our professional speakers included world famous cardiologists, surgeons, and geneticist from such institutions as The Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic, New England Medical Center, Columbia Presbyterian, Harvard and Minneapolis Heart Inst. Foundation.  It was a wonderful event and those with HCM from all around the world were able to learn, share and have a little fun.  If you are not aware HCM is the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in the young and accounts for 36% of deaths on the athletic field.

This meeting was capped off by the 6th annual Lori Flanigan Golf Outing at Picatinny, which ended a few hours ago.    Arranging a meeting the size of the one we had in Morristown followed up by a golf outing for 100 was a great deal of work, therefore I have been a bit quite on the Voices of Rockaway issues.

I was sorry to miss the last planning board meeting but could not help it as I was in San Francisco at  Cardiology conference and holding a west coast HCMA meeting.

On other fronts you may all be interested to know that the Highlands bill was passed into law today.  This bill will have a direct relationship to a builder’s ability to develop land in specific regions of NJ.  I suggest you all take a close look at the map and the amendments.  Rockaway Twp has been given a great deal of protection.  The waterways surrounding 140 Green Pond Road and all well fields are specifically noted as having extremely specific protections.  It will be interesting to see how this application moves forward with this new legislation in place.

Oh, Mr. Doty I have not resigned my position with Voices Of Rockaway and find your posting nothing more than a sick temper tantrum, please try to do something positive with your energy.  I am beginning to believe the comments about your obsession with me personally, you have crossed the line so many times in the past and this is just one more step over the line of civil behavior.  You really need to see the big picture, the overwhelming majority of those in Rockaway Twp oppose the Christ Church application, I am but one voice…of thousands so why must you continue to make personal attacks that have no basis in truth?

I would also suggest you all tune into CBS Evening news with Dan Rather Wednesday Night, they will be running a piece on RLUIPA and filmed a great deal here in Rockaway Twp.

Just because you do not see activity on a message board does not mean things are not happening.

Hope to see you all at the next Planning Board Meeting!!!

Best wishes,

Lisa Salberg

Hi Karen!

It has been a while since I have logged on as I have stated above. I spent sometime attempting to get up to date only to find more lies being spread by our dear misguided neighbor Mr. Doty.  I remain amazed at the level of anger displayed by this man.

The most  important development in the opposition to the Christ Church application has been the passing of the Highlands bill.

I have read the ammendments to the Highlands bill.  In short it will take all stream/waterways that connect Reservoirs and bump them all to C-1 status - therefor there must be a 300 foot buffer zone around them. The Highlands bill also  offers protection to all well fields in the Highlands region.

Interestingly there is a specific area in Rockaway Twp that is noted as extremely sensitive land in short it runs from Split Rock to White Meadow. Development in this area is not going to be easy, in fact it will be near impossible.

It is a very good bill and offers the protection to our area that we really did need.  I am thrilled that our state government has taken action to help maintain our beautiful land here in Rockaway Twp!

Back in September Voice of Rockaway urged people to ge involved and help to protect out land.  Your voices have been heard all the way to the State level.  Thank you all!

Sincerely,

Lisa

Yes, I was interviewed as was John Jenkins.

A programing note... I do not think it will air tonight due to the death of Reagan.  I will post again when we are advised of the air date.

Nice writeup in the Neighbor News, Lisa! Congrats--

It does a fine job of easing the nausea after reading Russ' bizarre, morbid Letter to the Editor.
