A school is not needed.  No matter what its location, it will be bad for Rockaway.

Many people disagree with you and your "opinion" and find the data you used to arrive at your opinion not accurate.

I for one KNOW my child is in need of more space and services in the school he attends.

I am also not interested you forwarding your personal agenda against the school on others.  We all know you dislike the BOE and find fault with ANYTHING they do.  Try for once to look out for the children.

All the data I used is from reports of the Facilities Committee, Architect, Land Use Attorney, and Environmental Specialist. To date my information has not been disputed by any member of the BOE or School Administration.

Your statement that your child "is in need of more space and services in the school he attends" is an interesting turn of phrase. No one, to my knowledge has disputed that certain schools may have a space problem. Proposed problem resolution has generated my objection. I contend that RT shouldn't build whenever there is a temporary, local issue.

The district , on the whole is not overcrowded. Certainly you're aware that 20 classes were added and only 119 new students were enrolled in the past 5 years. Future growth is also suspect in that accepted forecasting techniques show growth of only 66 students in the next five years (per the Demographic Study commissioned by the BOE).

Further, a RT Residential Development report in that study shows 387 new students from a project that's been halted and may be reduced in size and another 49 from a project not yet under construction. Clearly there are significant problems with the 5 year projections used to justify the school

Hey Ted - what about other services that the town is unable to provide at this time - such as quality after school programs, full day kindergarden and comminity center activities??

I do not agree with your evaluation of the data, I having been on the committee find your actions to be nothing more than an attempt at taking the spot light.

If you gave a dam you would have been on the committee and been part of the process, yet you choose not to participate.

Ted go away - we have all had enough of your waisting our tax $$$ - I find it enlightening that you think the cost of 10,000 to US was "worth it" to you.   Thanks but no thanks...stop waisting my money!

And those 20 new classrooms took how many years to get approved / built?  And how badly overcrowded were the schools when THEY were built.  Those classrooms helped alleviate PAST overcrowding...They were not built to remain empty.  They were full from day 1.

And what if they DO BUILD THE NEW HOUSING tURD?????? I guess you can foot the bill for us all in town. They say a mind is a terrible thing to waste...no problem for you tURD, you lost yours long ago.

Now comes his canned response, numbers, blah blah blah.

Glad that you are willing to gamble with our towns future tED, what with your vocal support for the CC Mega-Resort, and now with our kids educational future. Please do us ALL a favor and consider moving to someplace like, oh, how about Montclair??

Now you're speaking in hypotheticals.  I don't think the TWP should spend millions on a hypothetical, do you?

Could we assign some probability?

Gee tED - I wish I had your crystal ball.

The reality is WE ARE NOW OVERCROWDED!!!!!

This town is STILL GROWING tED!!!!

Now, I have seen the numbers too, and let's just state for the record - I disagree with your extrapolation. You are entitled to your opinion.

Get it? YOUR OPINION tED!!!! That is all you are offering...

Come on tED - fire back something SUPER GENIUS!!!

Where?  Logically if you need eminent domain to obtain land, there is no more land left on which to build.

Now, I have seen the numbers too, and let's just state for the record - I disagree with your extrapolation.

Somehow I doubt you've seen the numbers.  If you had, you'd know that I did no extrapolation.  The numbers I've given you are exact quotes from the Demographic Study

tED - please give someone else a little credit - I was on the "biased, sheeple needs committee" and have all the paperwork I care to leaf through super-genius, so doubt not my squirrelly friend!!

And, as you well know Mr. Spin-Miester - we looked at 15 continuous acre + sites...please do not insult us by telling us there are no new homes going up @sshole. And, nice dodge on my point about the 126 existing homes for sale.

Give CC's PR guys a call, they need some fresh talent on their side!!!

I still get a kick out of the first night of the committee meetings where you signed up on the roster as if you were there to serve on the committee...you make me ill just looking at you.

From the other side, where you failed to respond:

There are currently 126 single homes on the market in RT. These homes are not being eyed by seniors tED, they are being sold to young families, older folks are moving on...spin away tURD - we are on to your glory seeking 15 minutes of fame - you have failed at everything you have ever tried in life - gonna have to chalk this latest campaign up to the loss column.

Table 4 is the source for the # of students per development.  I think you'll find I quoted the properly

The 66 students from approved forecast techniques is on tabe 3.  (2931-2865=66)

The manually input"Net Development Impact" is not an approved technique (per Debbie Minenna's Presentation)

Perhaps you should leaf thru the papperwork

Mr Doty, In 2001 and 02 I personally built 17 addalevels to houses in Lodi and Saddle Brook NJ . Towns where there is really no room to build. All for thirty somethings with babys and aging parents. Building of one kind or another will never stop.  You can tear little ones down and build big ones too. And there is another constant in life, more babys. Build a freakin school and find another cause.

The add-a-levels are considered in the approved forecasting methods mention in Mrs. Minenna's report. Specifically they're included in the linear regression model or the cohort survival statistics dependent on whether a child has been born in the last five years.

Haha...  you read my mind.

....
For anyone not wishing to purchase the book .... it's available at various Morris County libraries ...

Go to: http://web2.morris.org/ , and reserve a copy online via interlibrary loan!

It's a must-read for anyone interested in learning more about [as one amazon.com reviewer]: "how other people lie with statistics, and how you can recognize it when they try to snow you."

Thanks, TMUTB!

OK TED!-  all i hear you say is "I'm right, you're wrong?"  Let me tell you something... spend an hour every day in each school and check out if the halls can be easily be graced by students without being jammed into each others rear-ends.  You use poor excuses for not building a school (regardless if it gets built or not).  Those poor excuses that will only jepordizes the quality of the children's education over numbers that you believe that are true.  Don't get me wrong Ted, you support what you believe in, but i must know what gives you the right to think that schools aren't overcrowed. Obviously, you have not been in a school building during hours in a long time.  On the other hand, I have.  Not only am I a recent graduated but i have younger siblings who are still in the public school system.  We can all tell you it is crowed.

one last thought, what about room for technology advancement, after-school busing, sports that most schools have except ours, teachers' pay, tutors, coaches, educational field trips.  How can you have it all without expanding?

The Township Rec program is the reason we don't have it.

 teachers' pay,

Trust me, teachers control the BOE; they'll get paid, and healthy raises

tutors,

Our special ed program is the envy of Morriss County

coaches,

educational field trips.

If you attended BOE meetings you'd know the Board receives a report every month and it's discussed frequently.

Great tED - we have advancement - how about FUTURE advancement.

sports that most schools have except ours
The Township Rec program is the reason we don't have it.

That's a load of croc.  Parsippany has a great rec program and their middle school also has teams (coached by paid professionals).  Our middle school doesn't even have an outdoor field for our kids to play on.  I wonder how many non-city schools don't have a place for kids to run their mile run for the presidential fitness challenge???

coaches
see above

Correct - see above.  Rec coaches = parent volunteers.  Compare that to paid professionals that other school's have (and those other schools ALSO have a rec program).  This puts our children at an disadvantage when they compete later on for athletic scholarships.
