I was driving down Green Pond Road at 7:30 this morning to drive my kids to Copeland. I took an objective look at the single lane section that runs from Meriden Road to the Entrance of the Bergen Record.
Not that I would even want this strip of road “improved” to become a 4 lane highway, but has anyone looked at the challenges involved to do that? One side of the road has sensitive waterways and marshlands, some of which are designated as Green Acres. The other side has houses, which sit very close to the road (and may need to be condemned) or large mountainous rock formations that would need to be blasted. There are also Utility lines that need to be moved. The costs associated with this would be astronomical.
I recall the good Reverend stating he would not be willing to pay for road improvements. I guess he expects us taxpayers to pay for his highway to heaven.
Reverend Ireland,
Why would you want to move your mega conglomerate “church” to a location where 99.9% of the residents don’t want it? The only answer I can think of is, you really don’t care. Your Olive Branch is brittle bears no fruit.
