Oh, wait, I know why there was hardly anybody there, it was because of the weather. That's it! There was a bit of mist in the air and there were predictions of a possible thunderstorm. People were afraid to come out, otherwise there would have been many more there, I am sure.

I counted around 220. A lot of folks were sitting in the back section. Also many left at halftime.
Unfortunately, some feel that eminent domain and a new school is a done deal and this CC thing will magically go away. So why bother attending the meetings.
The application is still very real and must be defeated. Ireland and his crew will do whatever they have to, and put forth a plan that will eventually be approved, then once they are in, they can hide behind RLUIPA (something their attorney had trouble pronouncing) to expand it to whatever they want.
Don't bank on eminent domain. Although the probability for a new school on this property is high, it's not a slam dunk.
Actually, I think a lot of people have already been to 1, 2, or 3 meetings and no longer feel like attending. The issue is being handled whether they are there or not, and they choose to not give up time from their busy lives. It's a burden being there. I'm amazed at how many continue to show up. Wait for June & July - The zoning board meetings will be MUCH smaller during the summer...Although, I'll bet the school board eminent domain meeting will be well attended...
I, for one, do not feel the number of attendees in any way constitues disinterest. Rather I think the number of meetings, their length, and the fact that attendenace is in no way tied to the decision is the driver here.
The updates from this site (if one reads throught the normal BS and focuses on the issues) is ample information to keep abreast of what's what. At least for me. And keeping up to date is important. Otherwise, one might actually believe the letter in Neighbor News this week as some type of real consession.
CC's goose is cooked...Rev Ireland is wasting other peoples money on this twisted fantasy camp - it will never be built in RT. Keep your heads stuck in the ground CC.

Excellent point. I think you are correct. People now feel very confident that CC will not cause any major problems for Rockaway Township.
I wonder where CC will go after they are rejected? I wonder what town they will cause problems for next?
The smaller crowd does not in any way show a lack of interest in the project, but it does show lack of interest in the process. (It's boring) It's a bit like watching C-SPAN!
Last's nights meeting was extra dull because it took an hour and a half to make a 5 minute point regarding the proper venue for the application.
Ms. Berger did not help move the meeting along at all with her grasping at straws and her display of a certain frustrated incompetence. Trying to put words into the mouth of the planner, and having him stand up to that sort of lawyer nonesense and not let it happen was precious.
