150+ people came out last night to hear what the committee has recommended to the BOE. It appears there was a great deal of time and effort placed into the process and that the recommendations are now in the hands of the BOE.
The presentation was filled with facts, yet many questions still need to be addressed. There were really no estimates on the cost involved with the project (in all fairness that is not what the committees were charged with reviewing), we will all need to look at these numbers sooner than later.
It was clear that one person in attendance did not believe the demographics provided to the BOE by a professional firm and in accordance with state law. While it is true that projects that have not been completed yet are part of the calculation, it is also true that they are required to be part of the calculations. I had a further thought after the meeting. What if the demographics are incorrect and they under estimate the number of children coming to the district in 5 years? I guess we can only use the data collected in accordance with the State of NJ regulations for such matters.
As for which site would be best??? That is a difficult issue to judge at this point. I think we all need the costs of each plan to help detirmine what is best for the town.
I did sit behind Wendy Berger at the meeting, so I know Christ Church is following this closely. I hope at the very least Ms. Berger left knowing we are a town in serious need of development of our infrastucture, I am not sure she will see that the loss of 630K will hurt the children of Rockaway Twp.
Please chime in and let us know your thoughts on the meeting.
I did not attend last night meeting, as it was myy wife's turn to get out of the house and leave me tending the kids.
It was funny, she said there was one extremely argumentative person there, who at one point needed to have his "one man questions and answer discussion" abated. She said it seemed like he was reaching our for attention.
I asked if she remembered his name name, and she said no, but she's seen him arond WML, wore glasses and was confined to a wheel chair.
I can state that no matter what tED thinks, we are already 481 kids too many for our schools classrooms.(fact tED)
It is a shame that my kids have "art on the cart" and other other restrictive issues due to classroom limitations.(fact tED)
Here is another fact - our town is GROWING - this means property is disapearing. Although we may only look at numbers going out 5 years, the fact remains we will continue to grow after that.
Heres the deal - of the three final sites, 2 would be at max (with no ability to grow) hte day the doors open. The last property would serve for now, as well as leave room to grow. Pretty clear to me.
As Lisa always says "lets talk facts". It's a fact that we built 20 new classrooms in the last five years and (per the demographers report) saw an increase of 119 students. So the question is What happened o all that room?
Las nights answer was that we're already 450 students above were we should be....Oh really Miss NJ? If we're 450 over and we expect another 472, shouldn't we be looking to build two new shools?

The teachers were there to say good bye to Tom Parciak at his last meeting as superintendent...get a clue Lisa.

Again, get a clue. Most of the committee people attended only one or two meetings Ask Kelly she made only one meeting yet will recieve a certificate of appreciation. Most of what you call facts were spoon fed by Craig Wilson and Dan Saragnese

3rd time, get a clue. It's one of the oldest sales tecniques. Never give them the bottom line until they're ready to sign.

I have a copy of the demographers report and per the report 472 new students were added manually as if they will appear all at once...Miss NJ can't read a chart.
If you are so #&*ing smart, and care so much about our town, please tell us why you had the time to show up at every committee meeting, but not the gumption to join and try to make a difference, no matter how you see things.
Could it be that you would not have been able to rabble rouse to the local press? Then shame on you when you would rather make a stink about things instead of change.
Flame shields up! Here comes tED's superior intellect response - I hope someone will be smart enough to understand it...

I offered to sit on the Committee in writing as well as on the phone. Saragnese never responded. That's why I wasn't on the committe

You've gotta point there. Members of the Committee were told not to discuss Agilent and some of the other details. I was able to discuss the issues more freely as a member of the public...Perhaps Dan made a mistake by not responding to my offer to join.
Why do you think you are so smart?? You babble like a fool, you do not answer questions, you act tough on a message board... yet are a wimp!
You seem to have so much to say from your key board. I was at the meeting last night Ted, you were feet from VORT I did not hear you say boo to them (I was 2 rows behind them) You have no guts.
You mock everyone yet you know nothing. I know you are frustrated that people actually have faith in these good people. If you had the *alls to answer questions, provide your argument or at least protect your town someone may actually give you some credit.
Get the directions to the field dude... (whoever posted that one about so off base...that was a great line!)

To engage in a discussion with vORT at a BOE meeting would have been inappropriate. If I had, you probably would have trashed me (and rightfully so) on different grounds. BTW ther were no conversations (that I know of) between vORT, myself, Wendy Berger etc.

I answered all questions (something vORT has not) and clearly stated my argument (apparently I do it so well, you're beside yourself with anger)
