Why do people from Christ Church think it's THEM we don't like. We have no problem with the people. It's the cars that will clog our roads that we have a problem with. It's the QUANTITY of quality people we have a problem with, not the quality of the people.
That was just a recruitment campaign for his church. His goal is 25,000 members here in RT. Do the math.
Here is another way to look at it. He spent about 2 million on his present church which is 25,00 square feet and supports 5000 members. Now he wants to spend 31 million for his new 412,000 square foot facility. Of course he is running these PR stunts - - - and for one simple reason. Recruitment = Membership = Money. 31 million bucks is a big mortgage. He wants 25,000 members and that is what he is building for.

Why? See Craig's post. Those, along with many like them here and on nj.com answer your question.
Craig's post states the obvious. Christ Church has never shown a free movie in Morris County. Obviously, it was done for publicity and public relations. Your post does not answer my question, so I will ask it again,
Why do people from Christ Church think we are against them personally. We have nothing against them personally. What people in Rockaway Township fear is a 5000 member church which may grown and grow and grow in a rural section of our town. Maybe because these people come from urban areas where transportation is much easier and there's always another road to take, they do not see what will happen on our two-lane road.
Indeed Russ, it is very sad to think that you are so blinded by the profit you will make from Christ Church employing you that you can not see that Rockaway Township is afraid that Rev. Ireland will grow his flock to 25,000 people and that we will be stuck in our own driveways.
The article has little - if anything to do with the REAL issue. TRUTH be told, SIZE does matter. And in this case it matters in such a way to disturb our quality of life. If one can not see the TRUTH in that, maybe one is blinded by the $$$$$$$ they are hoping to exploit from this entire fiasco.
