Concise and to the point. Kudos to Mr. Kopet--we need more like him to keep this issue out in the open and "dispel the myth" that support is fading.
Please keep the letters to the editor going. This matter needs to be kept in the public eye (and under our leaders' noses).
It's been discussed before--most people are complacent and, while they may feel one way or the other, they're hesitant to get off their duffs and attend a meeting (ESPECIALLY a meeting that will probably take place every month for God only knows how long!) They usually hope for the best and complain afterward if things don't turn out the way they'd like.
In light of this, I think 300 residents showing up at the planning board meetings is a pretty staggering level of participation.
It's natural that the attendance will come and go with people's schedules, as well as what's "on tap" meeting-wise.
Maybe the testimony from the planners doesn't sound as interesting as the testimony of the traffic experts will, so fewer might attend at one than the other.
Certainly there will be times where attendance wanes. But by using letters to the editor and keeping our neighbors enlightened, our community's leaders WILL be kept aware of our concerns!
Kopet merely states that opposition is not waning. He offers no support for his claim however.. Even “Clueless Karen” can only offer weak excuses as to why attendance may be reduced and then she lowers expectations by rationalizing that the smaller numbers are still “staggering”
