Hercules Site?

Although I'm somewhat ashamed to admit it, I have read a lot of Todd's postings on the other site.  I've found all of them to be nonsense except for possibly one.  In that post he mentioned the Hercules site off Mt Arlington Blvd in Kenvil as a site well suited for CC.

I drove by there recently and actually see what he may mean.  It is in an apparent industrial area, has no streams around it that I could see, has an entrance right off Rt 80 next to the park and ride, and seems to be extremely large.

I believe that Hercules formerly tested explosives on the site and for that reason it is extremely well insulated from residential areas.

I was wondering if CC is aware of this and, if not, whether it might be good for someone to make them aware.

Any thoughts?

For some reason, I'm thinking that land is unuseable because it's contaminated somehow.

I don't recall details but it seems as though I recall the land is even an explosion hazard in and of itself, due to dumping of the materials years ago?

Again, I'm not sure if what I heard/read was true or speculation...

I really don't know for sure but I do recall my father telling me that the entire Hercules plant and surrounding property is a superfund site, and probably one of the worst in the state and country. As I remember it, in the 50's or so, they had hand-dug trenches running down the hill and would pour chemicals used in the production of dynamite down to production facilities. So now there is a crust of nitroglycerine just under the dirt, highly explosive stuff. Like I said, it’s just a hazy memory of a very brief conversation between my father and I so it might not be 100% accurate.

It makes perfect sense to me, there has got to be some good reason why all that land that close to Rt. 80 hasn't been built on. That is the only logical explanation considering that every other square inch on NJ has plans to build or is protected.

Agilent/HP in RT was also a superfund site.  It was cleaned up to the degree that it was usable.  If Ireland got the land for free and the superfund payed for the cleanup, why not recommend that it be used for his amusement park?
