Something exciting is happening in OUR neighborhood?

irelands ad campaign is as audacious as one can imagine. His advertisement that came in the mail today states:

"Something exciting is happening in OUR neighborhood."

Since when is Rockaway Township HIS neighborhood? He is the outsider, not us. Does he think that he owns it now?

Wow, does this guy ever suffer from allusions of grandeur. Am I the only one that finds this guy and his business to be totally offensive?

Rat

He just a businessman trying to make a buck. He considers himself part of the the neighborhood because he owns property here. He even pays a little bit of tax. The whole megachurch things is not my cup of tea but I guess if people want to support something like that, it's their right to do so. I tend to think that they're being taken advantage of. I guess I'm not a believer.

Quoting Rockres:

"I guess I'm not a believer."

------------------------------------------------------

You mean that you do not say every night before you go to bed:

"In the name of the Father, and David Ireland and his Holy Circus,

Amen"?

Frankly I find your obvious bigotry and your intollerant imflamatory comments far more offensive.
I too opposed this project based on reasons concerning the site and impact itself, and not based on who or what was moving in.
I too am not a big fan of evangelicals and the influence they may have on public policy. ( E.G. George W. Bush)
If they are here, they ARE our neighbors and it is OUR community.
Outsiders you say? Perhaps you would like to bring back the seperate but equal concepts of the past? You ask if this guy suffers from allusions of grandeur? With all your dime store lawyer babble and letter writing campaign spelling out the absolutes as you see them, and considering you might be the only person that takes you seriously, might you not suffer from the same delusions?

This IS America. We are supposed to be based on rule of law and religious freedom.
I too, DO NOT wish to see the rule of law bent or abused in granting the proper permits for the project. However I think one can make such a case in a civil manner without the narrow minded tantrums of arrogant small minded bigots with a skewed agenda.
Your attention to detail and your obvious intellect are impressive, but do not in any way excuse your obvious bigoted agenda. In fact ,your obvious high degree of intellect makes all that much more disturbing.

Frankly sir, I find you to be an embaressment to OUR community.
What a waste of intellect.

Hi fyrral,

Hope all is well with you. Just to let you know, I am purchasing that property next to you and plan to tear it down. I plan to construct a methodone church there so that I can make lots of money doing the good work and helping the people. I have been looking into that property and it appears that there was never any toxic waste there, so I am not concerned that it will hurt anybody (unlike ireland).

I am sure that you respect and understand my rights to move forward with my religious outreach endeavour. Maybe you will even help me with the construction; that would be wonderful!

Best Regards,

Rev. Rat, Phd

Sure! Come on over! Altough after you step on the property, the toxic waste will be there! So, you may not get the proper permits! There are many types of toxins after all. :)

Anyway, trying to redefine the debate with such sophomoric tricks and both transparent and ineffective......to people that think anyway.

Dear fyrral

Again, it is great to see that all is well by you. I am looking forward to improving OUR neighborhood with my new religious order right there next to you. I will even provide free methodone to everyone in MY neighborhood who needs or wants it.

Again, I am looking forward to your continued support and encouragement. See ya soon and have a wonderful weekend!

Rev. Rat, Phd.

ps - toxic waste does not seem to be the least bit of an impediment to my construction there; thank G-d I am developing here in Rockaway Township where things like that do not matter. Life is good!

I think both of you guys should stop embarrassing yourselves and play nice. You are both on the same side, although you may both prefer different approaches.

To call a group like CC "outsiders", in my opinion, is a very tame and accurate description and doesnt denote any bigotry. Afterall, they are just that. They are not from RT. They are not from Morris Cty. They are outsiders that forced their way into RT with deep pockets, backed by a bad piece of legislation and The Becket Fund (with deeper pockets). The fact that they are a predominently minority based organization remains totally insignificant to me, however, the fact that they are so "stereotypically evangelical" with all the usual trappings, I find even more offensive since it was forced down our throats. Just my observations. C.

Not merely "different approaches" Chuck, but different motives and agenda. My refrences to bigotry are limited in large measure to rat, regardless if it's racial or religious bigotry. He seems to have an ample supply of both by his own addmission.
I'll accept your conotation of "outsiders" for your own purpose as something not based in bigotry. But, in a free market open society, are there really any "outsiders" in any legal or moral sence if you are an American citizen? Seems a moot point to me, so long as the rule of law is applied equally and fairly.Following the rule of law and not making exceptions for special interest groups seems the real point in this marathon affair, as I'll assume you might agree.

And thanks for your concern about embarrassing myself. But shining a light on rat and speaking for the decent folk that may agree with my points I think of as more as a public service or duty than an embarrassement.(cue the patriotic music) :)
Now sometimes in my debates with rat, our tact, or lack thereof might be a bit strange.....but ya gotta have fun too ya know! :)
My sister has accused me in the past of "poking a small furry caged animal with a pointy stick".... I mean,Rats being small furry animals, she may have a point!

Thus, logic dictates, that you have admitted that I have made my point. In case you do not see it, I shall highlight it for you.

Everyone who lives in this country (and especially those of us who have gone through this cc thing) knows for an absolute fact that the rule of law is NOT applied equally and fairly across population demographics. In actual fact - - - it is quite the opposite and the Supreme Court has even affirmed that reverse discrimination is both legal and desirable.

If a Roman Catholic Church or a Jewish Synagogue had purchased that property and submitted plans like ireland did, everyone in town knows that the application to build would have been denied.

Fyrral - - - are you the only one that needs to have that point highlighted? If so, you are an embarrassingly stupid person because these things are intuitively obvious to the most casual of observers.

Rat

confuse.gifno.gif Not fact, but a complete assumption on your part.

One might also assume that if the project happened to be one of these other groups, we may have never heard your objections if they were granted the same approvals.

Of course anyone that does not share your narrow view of things must be stupid. Perhaps you would care to lead a Rockaway Township book burning, and afterwards, you can enlighten the ignorant masses to your world view. Those not worthy or too stupid to understand could then be dealt with in some manner of your choosing. Or has that sort of thing been done already?yawn.gif

Interesting - - - maybe you could explain to me and the rest of the world exactly what my world view is.

Thanks in advance for your thoughtful enlightenment.

Rat.

And Rat, I think you are expressing your world view just fine, I'm just helping to define it. :)

Well, please do not be stingy with your words. Please explain my world view to myself, ok? Use carefully articulated language to describe my inner-most essence.

Rat

ps: Not that it would matter in the least to you but have we ever met each other? I think not.

I might reply with the one word answer that General Mcaullife (sp?) gave to the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge. But I won't. :)
Nah Rat, I don't think we have met. It would be fun someday. I think you are expressing your world view just fine. Perhaps I was hasty when I said I was helping to define it. Perhaps shining a light on it may be more accurate.

fyrral,

You are doing the olde political sidestep. "Shining a light on it" is just a meaningless metaphor adding no enlightenment to our body of knowledge.

So, once again, just exactly what is my "World View"? I know that you know me better than I know me and I really want to know.

Or is it that your schtick is just not as sharp as you had claimed? Nah, you are the sharpest knife in the drawer, so do your thing, by G-d!
